About a couple of weeks ago or so, I stumbled across Rachel's blog, For the Birds, through Jessica. I had seen Jessica mention her before, but had never actually clicked on her link until then for some reason. The first post on For the Birds was an update for Rachel's vintage shop of the same name and I instantly fell in love. Not only was I smitten with most of the vintage pieces, but I don't think I've ever seen prices that low for items that great. However, nothing caught my eye more than this skirt. The moment I laid eyes on it, I was sold. It had my heart and it knew it. Alas, I had just learned how much the car damage was going to cost me, and even spending less than $15 would have been irresponsible for me. I moped over the pains of adulthood and paying for my mistakes, but I still wanted to tell Rachel about my newfound love of her shop and blog. I left a comment about how much I adored this skirt and how I wished I could spend money on it, and I figured I'd bookmark it and perhaps I'd see if it was still there after my next paycheck.
However, Rachel had other plans for me and the coveted skirt. Soon after my comment, she sent me an email saying that she liked my blog and would gladly send me the skirt. Maybe it was fate, or most likely it was just Rachel being a superbly sweet human being, but either way, I was united with the skirt of my dreams. To be honest, I had a little trouble styling it at first because it's so busy, but I finally decided that simple was best. I hardly ever wear this lace tank because it's a little casual for me, but it was exactly what was needed to create the laid-back, effortless look I had envisioned for the skirt. Of course, these vintage sandals couldn't have arrived at a better time as I put them on for pictures almost immediately after they came in the mail. I won $25 to Adelaide's Vintage from Marlen's blog, and I had to make an exception to my "I guess I really don't need anymore shoes since everyone I know keeps pointing out that I have too many" rule. Because, really, there's no such thing as having too many shoes. I honestly don't know why anyone would think otherwise.
If you don't check out For the Birds, you're making a huge mistake. Adorable and affordable? If you can make an alliteration out of it, you know it's a gem.
