Fruit Salad

So, we need to talk about this dress. For obvious reasons, it's my new favorite thing in existence. First, there's the fact that it's covered in fruit. Then, there's the flattering fit and flare cut with a sweetheart neckline and faux buttons. And, of course, there's there's the double straps that lead into that sweet "v" in the back. It's also made by Sugarhill Boutique, one of my favorite brands. Essentially, it's flawless. It had been on my Modcloth wishlist for ages, and when I saw it drop dramatically in price during the Last Hurrah sale, I knew it had to be mine. We've been living happily ever after together ever since.

Don't tell anyone, but I had to size up and my short girl problem caused the straps to be incredibly too long. Fortunately, it was nothing that a couple (read: four) safety pins couldn't fix. This sewing class I'm taking better come in handy because I'm getting tired of pinning all of my sleeveless items to fit me. It's either I learn how to sew or I learn how to grow, and I just don't have that kind of energy. But I digress.

We also need to talk about these pictures. Mary is a the best, and this is one of my favorite sets of photos by far. I had trouble narrowing down to just these, but I didn't want to overwhelm everyone. She's is also the master at capturing me in candid and non-smiling photos. I think it's safe to say that I won't be lugging my tripod around anytime soon.

I think things are starting to slow down a little this week, which means I'll finally have time to catch up on more blogs. I had a great time with my family this long weekend, but I'm ready to get back having down time for blog reading and Netflix watching. I'm sure you all can relate.

  4. Fruit dress??? Modcloth always wins with their prints. And congrats at knowing enough sewing to alter it! I'm always too nervous to try and change anything about the dresses.

  5. OMG fruit print, love it! I had a fruit print dress in my shop a few weeks ago I was so very tempted to keep (as usual). I love how this is a neutral fruit print though! So excited for you and your sewing class too, learning to sew seriously changed the way I viewed potential clothes (though I still only know the basics haha!)
    Have a great day!

  6. You look so freakin' adoooorable! LOVE the fruit print, seriously I can never get enough of a fun, novel print. And you can't go wrong with beige/black, bonus for the awesome v straps.
I no longer have a sewing machine but being able to hand stitch things is a lifesaver for sure

  15. Why exactly do they make straps so freaking long on dresses? I have like 4 that I had to take nearly 3 inches off!

  16. I have troubles with straps too! I'm not a very good seamstress, but I have learned how to take a strap in a couple of inches, thank goodness! haha. It really makes a huge different in how the garment looks on a person, surprisingly. This dress is so super cute. I love the neutral color of it, it will be so versatile! And your red lips are killin' me. Just STOP being so adorable. :)

  19. oh my god, love this dress. fit and flare dresses are so great! also i totally have a rack half full of dresses that i need to take the straps in. i'm a freelance seamstress so i never get around to my own clothes. usually out of sheer laziness, so safety pins are always in abundance here. lol

and i HATE when straps are too long - that can be the worst. and i find that findign someone to cheaply sew up my clothign is a pain
