Flowers, Polka Dots, and Bows

I meant to blog this earlier in the week, but I've been slacking! However, Friday was mostly off for me as the day after the 4th of July, and I used it to be productive. Well, I was a little productive while binging all of season 3 of Stranger Things. However, I'm also using the time to catch up on posts I've been meaning to blog, starting with this dress. 

Smak Parlour has quickly become one of my all-time favorite brands, mostly because in addition to cute, retro dresses, they're also all incredibly comfy. I've slowly been collecting dresses from the brand, and this mock bow shirt style of dress is one of my favorites. I was really excited about this new print of it, and it didn't disappoint. Flowers, polka dots, and a bow? You can't go wrong. It's one of those dresses that I know I can easily throw on for the office, and all of the work is already done for me. 

I love that Smak Parlour is a small, women-run company, which makes sense why they would know how to design flattering styles (and with pockets, obviously). I definitely recommend checking out their newest collection! 

1 Dress 3 Ways with May 68

Ya'll know I love a good remix (side note: is it weird that I like typing "ya'll", but I've never said that in real life?). I've been eyeing May 68's dresses for forever, so I jumped at the chance to work with them. May 68 is an independent brand who designs and makes all of their clothing in Los Angeles. Their clothes are sweet retro pieces, and they never shy away from a good Peter Pan collar or bow. That's not even to mention that they created the SSDGM dress that Georgia Hardstark wore. So to recap: locally made, vintage-inspired pieces designed by murderinos. 

And did I mention that this dress has pockets?

The moment May 68 released their new spring line, I've had my eye on this Patsie dress with its sweet bow. It's such a versatile piece that I couldn't decide on just one way to style it, so instead, I figured why choose just one? There's nothing I love more than showing how easily an item can be transformed so here are three ways to style this dress. 

Downtown Lace

I'm sharing a few more photos than I normally do today, but it's only because I'm so in love with this set. This is the second set that Hanna and I took in Old Towne Orange over the weekend, and it solidifies that it's by far one of my favorite places to take photos. I decided to get an ice cream cone "for pictures," but we all know that I really just wanted an excuse to get ice cream. Turns out, licking ice cream doesn't exactly make for the most flattering angles. It also doesn't help that I broke the cone within a few minutes of getting it, but that's besides the point. Oh well, it was still good ice cream.

Things keep getting busier at work, and we just signed a new client who I'm very excited about. April in general tends to be a good month - two of my family members and two of my best friends all have birthdays to celebrate, and this April in particular I'll be going to the BAIT warehouse sale this weekend and the Dapper Day expo at the end of the month. So many things to get excited about.

New Things

For someone who likes to consider herself fairly hard-working and motivated, I'm still pretty lazy. Because of this, there's nothing I love more than a dress that speaks for itself and requires minimal effort to wear. When T.J. gave me a Modcloth gift card as part of my Christmas present (he knows me well), I spent far too many hours trying to figure out what to get. After much deliberation, I settled on this one. I loved how it was simple, but still interesting and the color won me over. It was one of those pieces that just screamed "me." 

If you can't tell, this past weekend felt like Christmas all over again. Between the gold dress I was gifted, this one that came in the mail, and another package that I can't wait to share, it really felt like it. On another note, if anyone else feels like sending me something, go right ahead. I'd like to keep this feeling going every weekend.

Once again, please buy my things! I beg you, I need to get rid of this stuff finally.

Bow, Seriously

I've had this dress, which I got in a swap, since the summer, but for some reason it never made its way out of my closet until now. I think I was waiting until it got cooler (it's a little heavy material), or maybe I just struggled to style it, but all of a sudden I'm crazy in love with it. For as feminine as my style is, I've never been the biggest wearer of sequins or bows (pussy bow blouses excluded, of course), yet something about this dress is so perfect to me. Also, if I haven't made it clear, I plan on wearing this cardigan on a daily basis. I can't help it.
