1 Dress 3 Ways with May 68

Ya'll know I love a good remix (side note: is it weird that I like typing "ya'll", but I've never said that in real life?). I've been eyeing May 68's dresses for forever, so I jumped at the chance to work with them. May 68 is an independent brand who designs and makes all of their clothing in Los Angeles. Their clothes are sweet retro pieces, and they never shy away from a good Peter Pan collar or bow. That's not even to mention that they created the SSDGM dress that Georgia Hardstark wore. So to recap: locally made, vintage-inspired pieces designed by murderinos. 

And did I mention that this dress has pockets?

The moment May 68 released their new spring line, I've had my eye on this Patsie dress with its sweet bow. It's such a versatile piece that I couldn't decide on just one way to style it, so instead, I figured why choose just one? There's nothing I love more than showing how easily an item can be transformed so here are three ways to style this dress. 

Remix Friday: Thrifted Mint Cardigan

I'm going to be honest. I almost didn't share this post. When going through old outfits, I tried to look for items that I had featured in at least five or six looks, and I thought it might be fun to do an extremely versatile item -- a cardigan. I wear cardigans in probably 60-70% of my outfits, so I figured that it would give me a wide range of looks to share. 

Wrong.

The first cardigan I thought of was this mint one that I thrifted a long time ago, and I was pleased to see how many outfits I had worn it in it. I started going through posts and saving photos into a folder, only to be a little embarrassed when I looked at them all next to each other. In the eight outfits I had found, I had managed to style it almost the exact same way in most: with something blue, something white, and/or something polka dotted. So much for versatility. 

I started looking through other posts to find another item to feature, but ultimately, I thought this was pretty funny -- and insightful. I think we all often struggle with defining our personal style, but embarrassing as it may be, it's a little comforting to see that I've kept it so consistent over the years without even really trying. That's okay in my book.

Remix Friday: J. Crew Peter Pan Collared Top

For such a versatile piece, you'd that I would have styled this J. Crew collared top differently over the years. But, no. All I've ever needed is a high-waisted skirt and maybe a cardigan to make this one of my most worn pieces. For this week's Remix Friday, I thought that it only made sense to show you a top that you're probably sick of seeing. Ever since I got this gem in a J. Crew Factory sale, it has been on constant rotation. I'm honestly surprised that I was only able to find six ways that I've styled it for the blog, although the fact that it pops up on my Instagram so much (like here and here) would explain that. I have a feeling by this time next year, I'll have six more to share. Did I just challenge myself? I believe I did. Challenge accepted.

Remix Friday: Red Modcloth Dress

Oh, man. Has this dress taken me through the seasons or what? I got this dress a few years back while on summer break, and it stayed with me through my senior year of college in Illinois and back to California. I still have it and wear it regularly, which is usually a good test of a lasting piece. I can't imagine getting rid of this one any time soon, and looking through all of my old posts has truly solidified that for me. Looking through all of my old posts also reminds me that I used to live in a place where it snows, and I also was very excited to start my customer service job that I later couldn't get out of soon enough. Ah, nostalgia. 

I usually cringe when looking through old outfits, but I actually still really love all of the ways I styled this dress. I'm of course partial to my most recent attempt, when I wore it as a top with a gingham skirt. However, I also loved wearing it as a skirt with a sweater over it and just on its own when I first got it.

Remix Friday: Fleet Collection Plaid Skirt

Oh, yes. I am indeed attempting to start another series that undoubtedly will forget about in a week. It's a specialty of mine. I had so much fun during my remix series with Priya, that I thought it might be fun to share some of my remixes weekly. The best way to start? One of my all-time favorite pieces, of course. This plaid skirt from the gone, but certainly not forgotten Fleet Collection, will forever be one of the best things I own. With "fall" here (but not reall), a plaid skirt felt appropriate. This skirt part of a set, which you can see in my outfit post above, but it's so versatile and easy thing to pair with most tops I own. Wearing it with the matching top may be favorite way that I've styled it, but I'm also partial to the simple mustard yellow henley with it.

Remix: The Little White Dress

There are few types of items that I own too many off. Cardigans, for starters, probably take the cake, but I also have an unnecessary amount of polka dots and stripes. Two things that I gravitate toward anytime I'm shopping, though, are white dresses and Peter Pan collars. So it's no surprise that one of my most worn items is this little white collared dress that I got at Nordstrom Rack a couple of years ago. It's undeniably flattering, and it's possibly the most flattering thing I own. Here are six of my favorite ways (not in any particularly order) that I've worn it, but don't be surprised if the list keeps growing.

After wearing this dress (and by that I mean my favorite dress) as a shirt last time, I decided to try it a skirt this time around. Who knows? Maybe I'll try it as a headscarf next time I wear it.
