Lobster, Lapster, Liebster award

I've always kind of thought the blogging awards were a little dumb, but then not just one, but FOUR of my favorite bloggers nominated me for one over the course of the past few weeks and I changed my mind. Plus, I finally finished putting together my first issue of the paper for the semester and figured I should reward myself with a fun activity. The beautiful bloggers who have tagged me over the past few weeks are as follows: Jessi of Haircut and a General Attitude, Kristina of Eccentric Owl, Corinne of Life etc..., and of course, Priya of Perfectly Priya

The Liebster Award is for blogs with up to 200 followers. The story goes that "Liebster" is German for kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, valued, cute, pleasant, endearing and welcoming- Oh stop it, you're making me blush!

I've always been a stickler for rules (does that count as a fact?) so here they are:
1. Each person most post 11 things about themselves.
2. Answer the questions the tagger has set for you, and then create 11 new questions for the people you tag with the award.
3. Chose 11 bloggers (with less then 200 followers) and link them in your post.
4. Go to their page and tell them about the award (social networks accepted).
5. If you have not done so already, follow the tagger and visit at least three nominees. Spread the love!
6. And remember, no tag backs!

11 facts about me: (with a bunch of photos no one asked to see)
1. I have four brothers, I'm the youngest and the only girl. Because of that, I get along with guys a lot better than girls and most of my girl friends might as well be men.
Family time.

2. I'm the entertainment editor of my campus' newspaper and next year I'll be the editor-in-chief. I couldn't love my job more.
3. If I wasn't going into fashion, I would definitely be a film major.
4. I was a huge theater nerd in high school.
High school Elana when she thought she could act.

5. I grew up really close to the ocean, but I rarely go to the beach.
Except that one time.

6. I've made some really good friends at school, but I still consider my friends from home to be my best friends and spend a lot of time talking to them on the phone or skyping.
(Best friends from top to bottom: Adam, Whitney,  Kyle.

7. I have to drink coffee every day or I get a headache. I like mine with hazelnut creamer.
8. I like to keep it clean on the internet, but because I'm friends with a bunch of dudes, I have a pretty vulgar and inappropriate sense of humor. I also cuss quite a bit.
9. I met my boyfriend, T.J., at the newspaper we're both editors at. He humors me by actually caring about clothing and listens to me ramble about my blog. He'll also probably be mad at me for putting his picture on here, but I don't care.
Sometimes we eat cheesecake.

10. I am president of a fashion club on my campus called VAMO- Visual and Apparel Merchandising Organization.
When all else fails, my close friends Justine, Jessica, and I put magazine cutouts on everything.

11. I used to want to write for a big fashion magazine like Vogue or Elle, but now my goal is write for a much smaller, artsier magazine where I can discover up-and-coming designers and people in the industry. I have a fascination with talented people who have yet to find success.

Because I'm doing this late and have questions from four different bloggers, instead of answering all of them or just one set, I picked 11 different questions from the sets to answer:

1.What inspired you to start blogging?
As someone who has read fashion blogs for years, I had always wanted to start my own, but had never had the time or motivation. It always just looked like a fun hobby for someone who loves fashion and I could see that it was a great way to meet other people with similar interests. Since I was bored this summer (as most of my readers well know), it was the perfect time to finally get one up and running. It's not only proved to be a good way to make new friends, but another outlet for my writing and motivation to try harder with my outfits.
2. What is your go-to item to wear when you're feeling uninspired?
It would probably be this dress that I wear as often as I can without looking insane. I feel good in it every single time.

3. A perfect Saturday would involve...
I could stay in watch movies or tv shows with good company (friends, boyfriend, person standing next to me at Redbox, etc.) every Saturday. Throw in trying a new, cute restaurant before, and it sounds pretty perfect to me.
4. Polka dots or florals?
I do love florals, but polka dots all the way. Obviously.
5. What is your favorite season?
Definitely fall. I cannot wait to start wearing tights, boots, cardigans, comfy knits, scarves, and to layer everything.
6. Who is your favorite person in your family at the moment?
I love everyone in my family, so this is an unfair question. I chose it because I'm cheating and using this as a chance to show pictures of my niece and nephews, Harper, Hayden, and Jackson.
From top to bottom: Jackson, Harper, and Hayden. They're pretty much the most adorable children ever.

7. Favorite travel destination?
I was fortunate to go on a Mediterranean cruise after my sophomore year of high school and got to visit such places as Barcelona, Rome, Cannes, and more. My favorite place, however, was hands down Florence. It was one place where all of the history was still in tact and I also had some of the best food of my life. I'd go back in a heartbeat.
8. It's raining, you are...
Oh man, I love the rain so much. There's nothing I love more than sitting inside with a hot cup of coffee or hot chocolate and watching a movie. If I'm not at home, then I'm definitely in a coffee shop. I have a strong love of coffee shops, especially small, independently owned ones.
9. What is your all-time favorite song?
This Time Tomorrow by The Kinks
10. What was your first job?
My dad owns a restaurant in Orange County called Arthur's (if you live in the area, try it! It's delicious.) and I worked there as a hostess all throughout high school.
11. I never leave the house without...
I always carry small bags with me because I only have these things on me at all times: my phone, wallet, gum, sunglasses, and keys.

My 11 questions for bloggers to answer:
1. If you could steal one movie character's wardrobe, who would it be?
2. Who is the one person in your life you trust the most?
3. Which blogger would you love to trade closets with?
4. What do you want your last meal to be?
5. The song or album I currently have on repeat is...
6. What is your favorite magazine?
7. What is one trend you hate?
8. If you could have one designer design your clothes for the rest of your life, who would it be?
9. What company would you kill to work for?
10. Coffee or tea?
11. What fall item are you looking forward to wearing the most?

A lot of my favorite bloggers have more than 200 followers or have already been tagged, so I have less than 11. The bloggers I'm taggging (who I think have 200 or less and haven't been tagged yet) are:
8. Oh, My

Thank you to the bloggers who helped raise my ego and let it go to my head nominated me and I hope this was at least semi-interesting to read. I've been really behind on commenting on blogs lately, but I promise I've been reading them. If I don't get to enough right now, I have a shift at my front desk job in my dorm at 4:30 in the morning, so I'll have nothing better to do but bombard bloggers with comments.

  8. Yay I loved reading this!! I was pleasantly surprised to see you were in drama at one time! I'm about to start my school's musical. I also have 4 brothers, and I'm so glad you picked the family question. You didn't really answer it correctly, but I was happy to see pictures of the cutie nonetheless!
