It's my last day in California! Unfortunately, I'm stuck with a cold and packing my life into two suitcases, but at least I've still got sun, 52 degree weather, and palm trees in my backyard. Also, in other good news, Oscar nominations were announced yesterday which makes being stuck at home a little more okay. Anyone else excited about the nominations? The director category was definitely surprising (not Bigelow, Affleck, or Hooper?), but the fact that Django got a couple nods (Christph Waltz is my hero) and Silver Linings Playbook got a bunch is enough to make me happy. I get REALLY into the Oscars, if anyone was wondering.
I suppose I should talk about the outfit a little, shouldn't I? If Flock Together has given me anything, other than getting to know some awesome girls, it has helped give me motivation to look at the items in my closet differently. I missed this dress while it traveled to some of my favorite bloggers, so I've been wearing it quite a lot since I got it back. This time, I decided to wear it as a top to mix things up. Of course, I didn't go without sleeves for too long, but a few minutes with bare arms for photos didn't hurt.
I also do apologize that all of my photos (and some to come) have been in the same spot while I've been home. It's been nice being able to set my camera on a self timer and give my friends and family a break, but this seems to be the only spot in my backyard with a surface high enough to set the camera and where the lighting works. I might have sacrificed interesting scenery, but at least I've been able to get more pictures on my own time, right? And don't worry, a tripod is on my list of many things I need to get around to buying.

Very cute outfit; I'm loving the colour of the tights! I'm excited about the oscar nominations too. I just saw Django last night and it was amazing (granted, I am a tarantino fan). I haven't seen all of the nominations yet, but I plan to before the awards

I love this dress as a top! This looks super cute with the colored tights. And yes, a tripod is a vital item for my picture taking!
ReplyDeleteI must say your hair is looking quite lovely at the moment, curly and all. This flock together (after a bit of a read) looks like a pretty brilliant idea and the dress is so cute, don't know how you parted with it :D

Ah, I remember when I first started my blog - it was all about the self timer since I took photos early in the morning and mom wasn't in the mood to take them for me (she's not a morning person lol). The first half of my blog pretty much takes place on my back porch.
ReplyDeleteHaha, I need to invest in a tripod though so I can give my photographers a break!
Anyway, love how you used the dress as a top - perfectly layered as always! :)
Trendy Teal
This is such a cute outfit! I'm in love with those blue tights. I actually bought a pair myself, but I never knew how to wear them. They look amazing on you though, and I love how you styled them.

you need to stop rubbing in your warm weather already hahah. and aw, too bad you caught a cold- but just like you said, at least you got the golden globes to keep you company! and i love how you paired this with the white skirt- it kinda looks tutu-ish from here and im loving it
ReplyDeleteStill the best dress, ever. Even as a top!
ReplyDeleteyour teal tights are such a fun color, it really pops! And woah that is such a cool watch, i love it :) and yay oscar nominations! i love watching all the award shoes.
ReplyDeleteDude, I completely love your style. I love how you take these really pretty dresses and rather than pair heels with them, you go the awesome route and wear cool boots or flats with them. It feels so personal and real and I just love that! I really like how you paired these fantastic bright tights with this pretty dress and wore your boots, it looks so wearable and so very "you!"
ReplyDeleteTripods are wonderful! I tried the method of using a table or some other high surface for taking pictures and it takes so much time compared to whipping out the tripod. (You can get them for such reasonable prices! I got mine at Fred Meyer/Kroger for $18 and it's a pretty decent one.)
And yeah, what was up with Bigelow not getting a director nomination? That just seemed so odd!
I love this outfit! The sun looks so great.
