Hi there Room 334 readers! It's quite a pleasure getting to post over here at Elana's blog while she's off to Chicago for her conference. (Lucky girl, it sounds fun!) Elana always inspires me with her adorable feminine meets practical life style and she has the best eye for interesting, unique jewelry so I was just delighted when she asked me to help fill in for her.
I'm Katie and I hail from the frozen north known as Alaska. I started my blog a little over a year ago to figure out what my personal style really was and to become more comfortable in front of the camera. Along the way, I've been lucky enough to meet some really awesome ladies and I've gained a love for photography.
Like most of us, I have a really limited budget so I do all of my shopping either at the thrift stores or on mega clearance. Fairbanks is a little challenging in this aspect since we're a town literally in the middle of nowhere, we have a few chain stores like Old Navy, Sears and AE. Online shopping isn't really an option unless you want to pay crazy high shipping prices and wait for a month to get your package so it really does come down to shopping the thrift stores in order to get the biggest bang for your buck. I thifted this silk Banana Republic dress a while ago and my fur scarf was a recent find. (Sorry everyone, but when it comes to staying warm, fur really is best. I wear this when it's -50 to -60 below outside and I never get cold.) Thrift stores are also just a great place to find really unusual items; I found this elephant handbag among the vast amounts of pleather purses.
It's been so fun getting to post her and meet all of you ladies, thank you for putting up with my ramblings and thank you Elana for having me on!
