When we decided we wanted to do a stripe challenge on Flock Together, I immediately knew I wanted to post a photo in this dress. Unfortunately, the timing didn't work out and I wasn't able to get pictures in it until it was too late. Despite the missed opportunity, so continues my love affair with stripes.
This is the second item from Modcloth's Cabin Fever sale and I'm smitten. This dress had been on my wishlist for far too long, but never actually made it into my cart until it was marked down to about $10. Granted, I had to buy it in a size bigger than I normally wear since it was all that was left, but I knew I'd be willing to make it work for that price. Luckily, it's only a tad loose and nothing a belt can't fix.
Also, I should add how happy I am to have my friend Jenn taking my pictures for me a couple times a week again. I always feel bad dragging her outside when I get into the office, but when she takes photos this awesome, it's hard to resist asking her.
I should mention how I "organize" my cardigans. See, when it comes to work and school, I'm extremely organized. However, when it comes to my room, my organization is lacking just a little. I have one hook that hang sweaters off of, but it's light can only hold a few. There a few more that I hang off of my bedpost and there's one draped over my mirror. The rest (the heavier ones) and a few jackets hang out on the back of my desk chair. The problem with this is that I usually decide that I want to try on whichever one ends up at the bottom of the pile. To grab it, I end up throwing everything on top of it onto my bed. Then, I realize that time is running out before class and that I still need to make coffee, so I end up just leaving the pile on the bed. What I'm trying to say is, my room is essentially covered in cardigans. I don't have a problem, I swear.
Dress: Modcloth
Sweater: Madewell
Belt: Vintage
Boots: Cathy Jean
Bracelets: Thrifted
Dude, that belt is awesome! At first I thought it was a monogram but in the closeup it *almost* has a Celtic knot feel to it. Ahhh, vintage leather belts are just the best. I love how the belt buckle plays off of the stripes in the dress and that purple cardigan is pretty fabulous! (I know what you mean, my closet is not even remotely organized. I keep saying it's because it's tiny and there's no shelves, but it's really just me.)
ReplyDeleteAmazing look, dear! I really like the dress :)

Ouh I have a similar black and white striped dress - I love it with the purple! So cute! And the photo you made your profile pictures is indeed so pretty - your friend Jen is going a great job with this! I love how you 'organize' your cardigans. I'm the complete opposite - color coded by rainbow in my closet :D I'm crazed a bit though.

Love the oversized stripes and it has such a pretty bodice! The purple cardi is the perfect added pop of color too. I wish I had grabbed something on sale but I was REALLY trying hard to be good! Also thank you for your super nice comments as always! They make my day :)

Thanks so much for commenting on my blog so I could find your blog! I'm really enjoying your style. I think it's great that you refuse to wear sweats to class (confession: I totally wore a hoodie almost every day in college, lol).
ReplyDeleteThis is a very chic outfit - the cardigan really ties everything together.

These photos are the cutest! You look so, so pretty my dear. That dress is great and I can see it being so versatile for you. Sadly I didn't get my cabin fever dress...I was part of the massive server errors they experienced, so the lack of modcloth in my closet continues...le sigh. I'm wishing you and your darling self a wonderful weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteI really really love this outfit, not that I don't like your other ones, but this is definitely a favorite! Stripes, a bright cardi, and booties= winner! -Jessica L
