These photos were just taken last week, but already the idea of wearing a jacket (even one as light as the one pictured here) is horrifying. Yes, the heat wave that the Midwest apparently avoided most of the summer while I was gone has hit, and it has hit hard. I'll admit that maybe it's just particularly terrible for me because this is the first time since freshman year that I've had class on the exact opposite end of campus from where I live, but still. It's awful. Let the daydreaming about sweater weather commence.
I can't say that there was anything too special about this outfit considering it was one of those "throw on quickly before class" ensembles. In case anyone ever doubted me, this is proof that even "throw on quickly" outfits for me include some sort of accessorizing. Speaking of which, there is one item worth mentioning — my necklace. I might have mentioned before that this was my summer of giveaway wins, and this was one of them. Linda of The Dragonfruit Diaries (who is, as you all know, the best) gave away this Snoozer Loser pendant a little while ago, and I was fortunate enough to win it. Not only is it a lovely piece, but it's actually quite functional. Believe it or not, this pendant is meant to hold quarters and even has a little spring in it. I've yet to use it for its intended purpose, but how cool is that? I've already had multiple people in my classes compliment me, ask me about it, and tell me that they had been staring at it. Functional and a conversation starter? It's too good to be true.
On a completely unrelated note, have you all checked out Flock Together's redesign? Jen (who constantly manages to be too stylish/cool/talented/make me feel bad about myself in comparison) did it and I'm head over heels in love. Jessica and I have been working with all of the girls on revamping Flock Together a little bit, and the design is just the first item of many to look forward to.

This dress is gorgeous, love the sheer sleeves on it mixed in with the lace. It looks perfect with this jacket, and that necklace is really cool. You should definitely keep quarters in it "just in case" haha. Love that you just threw this on and look super put together :)

seriously about Jen!? And she's younger than me but at least I didn't go into the marketing field like she did or I'd really be feeling inadequate haha. she is awesome though and did such a great job w/ the flock together make over. anyway, super cool about the necklace, so nice your classmates asked about it! love the olive green w/ the black & those flats are perfection. but wait, it's so hot and you have a coat?

That's such a cute idea for a necklace, very practical for hanging onto some change of vending machines or bus fare, no? I think you look so put together for a thrown together look! That's one of the perks of blogging I think, it makes you more aware of what you wear so it's easier to put together a look that fits your usual style quickly :)
