Let's discuss all of the ways in which this dress, another piece borrowed from the lovely Sammi, was made for me. For starters, it fits me perfectly and is extremely flattering. Then, most obviously, it's covered in newspaper print. In case anyone reading is a new reader, I'll remind you all that I'm the editor-in-chief of my college's newspaper. The newspaper office is where I spend most of my time, I live and breathe AP Style (except for that pesky oxford comma rule), and I'm planning on going into journalism when I graduate this year. Any item of clothing with newspaper print would have my heart a flutter, but it doesn't stop there. The "newspaper" that covers the dress is called The Kitty Chronicle, and it's entirely about cats. Again, for new readers or refresh your memories, my last name is Katz. Because of the endless pun possibilities, I can't say no to anything with cats on it.
Basically, this dress and I were meant to be. Well, temporarily. Or so I thought.
Like most items I borrow from the Flock Together girls, I instantly had that familiar "Crap. Oh my God, how am I supposed to give this back after I've fallen completely in love with it?" moment as soon as I put it on. Well, there's a funny story about that. The day I wore this, I hung out with my best friend, Whitney. As soon as I got in her car, she looked at my dress and asked me when I got it. I told her that sadly, it wasn't mine and that I had to give it back. She dropped the subject as we made our way to Starbucks, and after the barista complimented me on the dress (the first of many comments about it that day), I started lamenting again about how I had to send it back to Sammi. That's when Whitney (who had told me just the day before that she had gotten my belated Christmas/early graduation present and that it was perfect) told me that she actually ordered this exact dress for me and that it just hadn't gotten to her yet. Turns out, Whitney knows me so well that the moment she saw a newspaper/cat dress on Modcloth (because naturally, that's where she would look for a present for me), she had to get it for me. Plus, she also thought it would make a perfect graduation dress since the newspaper has pretty much defined my college experience. If that's not a best friend, I don't know what is. I'm so excited to own this dress, I don't even think I can put it into words.
Because the dress is so busy and since I wasn't planning on going anywhere special that day, I just decided to keep it simple with my denim jacket and some oxfords. I can't wait to dress it up and do more with color in the future, though. I also found this cat ring at Buffalo Exchange the other day, which of course had to be paired with this dress. There's no such thing as too many cats or too many novelty accessories.
Dress: Modcloth, borrowed from Sammi

Cat ring: Buffalo Exchange
