The first time I saw these photos, I wasn't happy with this outfit. It felt pretty uninspired and I wasn't sure what I was thinking matching everything together with so much navy, black, and gold. Looking at them again, a good week or so later, I don't mind so much. One thing I told myself when I started taking photos for this blog (you know, a good two posts ago) is that I would always write posts about things I actually wear and never "fake it" for the sake of good photos.
I read a lot of personal style blogs. When I say a lot, I mean an excessive amount. And when I say an excessive amount, I mean that I would probably have a much bigger social life it weren't for all the time I insist on sitting in front of my computer reading blogs. If there's one thing that really bothers me about some bloggers, it's that I have a hard time believing that they
actually wear the outfits they post. What college student wears heels every
day? I have a lot of respect for girls who truly wear the crazy outfits they
post about and have no shame, but I'm not convinced that all of them do. The
point of a personal style blog is to show off personal style. While this outfit
lacks creativity, it's practical and something I actually wore.

I'm not even sure where I wore this outfit
because I've thrown on this dress so many times. This is full of a few of my
favorite thrift store finds that I still can't believe I found at a thrift
store. I found the dress and belt at a thrift store in Orange County for $6 and $4 and both fit like a glove.
The Dooney & Bourke purse was chance find for $3 at my thrift store in the
town I go to school in Illinois . For such a small town, I always manage
to have great luck at the thrift stores. Just thinking about it is making me
wish I didn't have to wait another two months to go back.
Dress, belt, bracelet: Thrifted
Purse: Thrifted Dooney & Bourke
Ring: H&M
Oxfords: Some shoe store at the Irvine Spectrum, for all you Orange County folks..

ReplyDeletecute dress!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing find with that bag! I definitely feel ya with the outrageous outfits I find bloggers wearing. I'm too lazy/busy to change clothes that many times a day, and I definitely don't buy a new outfit every week, so I relate more to bloggers who keep it real!
ReplyDeleteI love your navy and black mixing, you make it look so easy :)
Amen to what you said, and I haven't broken that promise to myself yet! What lucky thrift store finds! Now that I don't believe...just kidding :)

I think this outfit is really cute! Sometimes, simplicity and matching really works. :) Those shoes are awesome.
ReplyDeleteHah, I used to wear super tall heels for my blog back when I first got into fashion blogging, because I thought it made me cooler (or, y'know, something), but now that I've grown a little more into my style, if I've been wearing flats all day, I wear flats for the blog and I don't worry about looking fashion-blogger-y. ;) So I know what you mean about not believing some of those bloggers could have been wearing the six inch heels all day! I definitely don't!
your belt is divine- the accessories match this dress so well!
