Rolled up sleeves and car trips

I really need to count how many items I own that are the wrong size, but I bought anyway because of the price or I felt I needed it. I picked up this shirt at Forever 21 earlier this year (probably the last time I was in there) and decided to ignore the too-big size on the tag. I was too distracted by the polka dots and $12.99 price tag to care and it has served me well so far. Fairly well-made items from Forever 21 are always exciting.

I wore this on Friday to class and then on the three-hour car ride to St. Louis. Six of my co-workers from the Courier and I headed there for a journalism workshop that took place on Saturday. The car ride there may or may not have taken longer than three hours due to both cars getting speeding tickets and a pretty long stop at Cracker Barrel. The only thing I take the blame for is spending too much time deciding on which novelty candies to buy. The workshop itself was pretty good, especially getting to listen to a presentation given by a journalist I admire and an getting to attend an interesting session on video-editing. This isn't to say I actually have any sort of a clue as to how to edit video, but it's nice to say that I learned about it once.

In other news, it's starting to be sweater weather ALL the time. I could not be happier. I just put a Modcloth gift card towards a new pair of boots and, now that I'm getting paid regularly again, I'm hoping to go fall shopping soon. Also exciting about fall weather? Fall drinks. I also had the most delicious thing I've ever tasted on Saturday- a salted caramel white mocha from Starbucks. It was heaven in a cup.

Hope everyone survived their Monday!

Oh, also, the blogger swap group has been started! We only have about seven girls though, so it's going to be a little difficult to get started until we get more. If you haven't done so yet and would like to be added to the group, just add me on Facebook (Elana Katz) and I'll add you to it. If you decide to join, I would also appreciate if you would mention it on your own blog for any of your readers who are interested.

  1. Gah, sweater weather all the time!? I'm so jealous >_< Its still balmy here, only tinged with a slight chill in the wind occassionally. And that's not even enough to wear one of my cozy sweaters I'm dying to bust out...
Ah well, it'll get here eventually! I hope...
Haha, wow, both cars got speeding tickets? Hope you weren't driving :b
I have so many items that don't fit just right because all I could see was the potential and the price tag. Man, that's a bad combination. But glad you've gotten use out of this top, it's adorable! Especially the way you've styled it. You always look so girly and cute! :)

  4. This top is so pretty and I love the color of your shoes.

I too am at fault for buying things that don't fit perfectly. I wonder why.

  5. How cute are those shoes?! I too buy ill fitting things because they are cute. Or because I think I'll one day pick up sewing and fix it. I have yet to learn! Following you now :)

  7. Ha, I totally have made that mistake about size, sometimes those polka dots can be so distractingly cute! I have never had a salted caramel mocha, maybe a weekend treat is in order!

Tell me more about this blogger swap, I'm interested! Thanks for the sweet comment about my necklace, the original ones are from J.Crew, but you can also find them on eBay or on Etsy. I ordered mine from here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/ShopBlueBirdBride?ref=seller_info

  10. Ho man, I have so many crazy sizes in my closet, it isn't even funny! I have anywhere from a size four to a fourteen hanging in my room. This top looks great on you though! I love the slightly slouchy look to it-especially with this skirt...and I am obsessed with polka dots!
Plus I want those shoes! They are the perfect color!

  11. Haha I'm with you on the wrong size thing! Only this morning I realised that the top I'd been planning on wearing is actually too big, and just looks scruffy. It only took me about 6 months to realise.... probably I was in denial! I think you get away with it here so well though - I think the cinched waist helps :)

  13. I hope you had fun in St. Louis this weekend (minus the speeding tickets)! I love that city oh so much. I also love this polka dot shirt and navy skirt combo. It's basically the perfect fall outfit. AND that Starbucks mocha sounds pretty darn amazing, too. I think I'll have to try one as soon as possible.
