Feels like fall

I felt especially autumn-like (is that even a word?) in this outfit and the leaves covering the ground sure didn't hurt. This was one of the dresses I picked up at the Urban Outfitters outlet with Marlen and Katie for a whopping $10. It's a little different than something I'd normally gravitate towards (for starters, it's strapless), but I think that's kind of what drew me to it in the first place. I tend to play it a little safe sometimes and only stick to things I know work, but I'd like to start adding some different pieces to my closet. Plus, how could I say no to such an awesome print? I'm starting to regret not buying everything in that outlet.

Now that we're in full fall mode and Halloween has passed, I'm going to be one of those annoying people who counts down until Christmas. I may or may not be helping Jennifer decorate her tree this weekend and I might have already started discussing Christmas presents with my brother, Lucas. I also might be passing up purchasing new clothing and trying not to eat out as much to save my money to buy presents. I'm really big into giving good, thoughtful presents. What can I say? I'm a giver.

In other news, I'm writing this in between my last interviews and I'll have my staff for next semester decided by this afternoon. I'm excited to be the boss (though I prefer "big woman on campus"), but man, do I hate the idea of telling people they aren't being hired. If anyone wants to do it for me, feel free to volunteer.

  6. I love the pattern of this dress! Definitely a good call to buy it - especially at only $10! Also, THANK YOU for being someone who also starts the Christmas season early. I've had a Christmas post completed, in draft form, for weeks already but I'm making myself wait to post it. At least I'm not the only one who starts the holidays way too early. :)

  7. The tribal-like print is very fall-like!

You are not alone in starting to get excited about Christmas (I maaaay have started listening to Christmas music some...but, I have also been subbing for elementary schools as a music teacher and helping them practice for holiday programs so...I'll blame it on that!)

Sadly, it is not very fall-like here. Snow already.

  10. Great ten dollar steal Elana! I'm not too big on strapless dresses either unless it's a formal dress, but I like how you paired it with a cardigan. I'm getting excited for Christmas too! It's also my birthday so I can get out of hand with the countdowns :)

  12. This dress looks incredible on you! I don't know what it is about that cardigan, but it screams "FALL" to me. UO deals are so incredibly satisfying. And I'm so stoked for you to be running the paper. That's so rad!

  13. I'm trying to celebrate Thanksgiving, thank you, but I can't be annoyed by your pre-Christmas because your outfit is so darn fab! And good for you for going out of your comfort zone, the dress is awesome. I will say I am excited to start shopping for Christmas presents!! I can definitely refer to you as BWOC from now on, ha! Although that is a tough spot to be in, so hope it all works out ok!
