Mustard Girl

Oh man, out of all the clothes I've borrowed from the Flock Together girls, this dress may be the most difficult to give back. It's one of those dresses that just felt like it was made for me the moment I put it on. It belongs to Marisa from The Shades of Monet Chronicles and, as much as I'd love to pretend it got lost in the mail, it looks even cuter on her. You can see how she wore it here, plus how the ever lovely Katie of Butterflies and Snapdragons wore it.

The day I bought this cardigan, I came home to find the package containing this dress inside on my bed. I knew immediately I wanted to wear them together and couldn't be happier with the result. I'd been searching for the perfect mustard cardigan for as long as I can remember and now I never want to take it (or this dress) off. Maybe I just won't and I'll be that girl who wears the mustard sweater every day. I'm considering it. Also, fun fact: I'm wearing two pairs of tights here. I can already tell that's going to be a regular occurrence from now on.

Also, my friend Jenn- whose birthday is today- took these photos again because I somehow keep conning her into taking them. My secret is that I bribe her with Panera soup. In case anyone was wondering, she only reads my blog when her photos are on it so she can read the really nice comments people say about her. So do me a favor and leave nice comments and birthday wishes for her so at least one of my friends will read my blog.

Dress: Borrowed from Marisa
Cardigan: Nordstrom Rack
Boots: Endless
Tights: Target
Belt: Vintage
Ring: Jewelmint

  1. Happy Birthday to your friend, the pics are adorable. AND OH MY GOODNESS THIS DRESS! I try to contain myself when asking to borrow things, but I can't believe I passed this one up! It looks terrific on you and I love the lace detailing!
ALSO, "Mustard Girl" makes me think of a 50s diner and you are a waitress on rollerskates and your sole responsibility is to skate around offering condiments. Yup, I've had to much Starbucks today :)

This dress really was made for you, it fits your personality perfectly. It's all sweet and cute and a little quirky. And pairing it with that mustard sweater made this whole outfit amazing. And clearly it was fate too since yo bought it the day you got the dress ;)

  4. That dress is ADORABLE! Flock Together was actually one of the things that made me finally start a blog (yesterday, haha)... it's so cool to see you how you girls style everything. I love the mustard cardigan, too. I just got one of my own from UO and I wear it pretty much every day. ;)

  9. Happy Birthday to Room 334's awesome photographer!

I really like this dress. It is interesting that they both wore shirts under. It gives it a surprisingly different vibe to have something over the dress instead. Cute, cute, cute all three ladies.

  12. To Jenn: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! And you take awesome pictures of Elana and her adorable outfits. :)
Okay, back to Elana. Haha, this dress really does look like it was made for you girl! Especially paired with that mustard cardigan - mustard yellow has been a shade I've been hunting for lately. I found a beanie that's the perfect knit, but now I'm searching for a cardigan or dress...
Anyway, thanks for your comment btw. Glad to know I'm not the only girl out there who feels like this. Wish we lived closer! It'd be the coolest blogger meet-up :)

You are a clever gal! I am always freezing, so this I must give a try. Happy bday to your friend. Enjoy that Panera soup - I swear I could eat there every day :)
