Rediscovering Velvet

I'm currently fighting with my computer. For some reason the edited versions of photos will show up on my computer, but when I go to upload them into blogger, only the original, unedited and uncropped versions show up. This has led to much frustration on my part, and I imagine my computer is laughing at me every time. You win this time, computer.

As for clothes, since I assume anyone who reads this blog expects some sort of discussion about clothes, I've rediscovered my love for velvet. While shopping, my friend Alena and I discussed the material (though I don't remember why) and she explained to me that she only can't wear it because she'd be touching it the entire time it was on her. When I got home, I remembered that I bought this skirt at a thrift store over the summer, with the intentions of selling it and never got around to it. I was beyond excited to see it fit and it's now making its way into my closet. The only problem? Alena was right. I couldn't help but touch my skirt the entire day.

(See? This was cropped, I tell you!)

Despite my frustration, I'm in a constant good mood because of how close Christmas is. I'm even more excited because for my family, Christmas is actually three days long. Because my older brothers are married and have to visit their wives' families as well, not everyone can make it here on Christmas day. So we'll be having dinner and exchanging present with my brother's family on Christmas Eve, having Christmas day at my aunt's house, and my other brother and his family will fly in the day after Christmas. Then, on the 27th, everyone will be here (including three brothers, two sister-in-laws, two nephews, a niece, and parents) for one last dinner and presents. It's always a little tough not to have everyone here on the actual day, but it's nice to get stretch out the holiday as long as we can. So, dear readers, I'd like to know: how do you celebrate every year?

  3. Hooray velvet, especially paired with the little checkered top! Is this your home?! I feel like I am getting a little sneak peak into your life and I love it! As for fleece lined tights, I got mine at either Ross or Marshalls, some store like that! They only had black and grey, but they are by far my most worn pairs, and I don't even think I could put a hole in them if I tried!

  4. Elaaaanaaa hello! You are as adorable as ever and YES I have a velve top that I wear wayy too much. Reminds me of elementary school. Velvet is coming back!! Such a great skirt!

As for Christmas, your tradition sounds fantastic! Why not celebrate it for days and days with as many combinations of family as you can? Christmas day is almost the only day of the year I have my entire immediate family together so I am looking forward to it! Hope you're enjoying your time at home so far!

  9. Velvet has always been hard for me to wear because of the way it feels (I'm rather tactile), but it looks very pretty! I really like the check shirt and comfy looking cardigan though!

Growing up, Christmas was almost always just my little nuclear family. Now, ironically, we do have more family. While it i great, it is also a little strange to remember sometimes and now I have The Boy's family to add to the timetable. Still, we always do gift exchanging and a dinner meal with all our family and The Boy on Christmas Eve. Christmas Day... I'm not so sure of because of the Boy and his family. Should be fun whatever happens though!

  11. Don't you just want to take computers and throw them across the room sometimes? But then you know that you wouldn't be able to survive. *sigh* Technology: can't live with it, can't live without it.

Also, this skirt is so adorable and festive!

  14. What program are you using? Sounds like you are editing the photos but not saving them out as the edited photos - iPhoto and Lightroom do that to me - like you have to esport them or something? I'll try and help if you e-mail me becaus that sounds like a huge pain. And I wist I could wwear velvet - it creeps me out so much - like nails on a chalkboard! So pretty though.
