Hello, You

For the first time since I got back to school, I finally felt like myself in an outfit when I wore this yesterday. For the past couple of weeks, it's been all pants all the time. I'm sure all of you are tired of me complaining about the weather, but man, I just cannot get used to it, even after doing it for my third year in a row. My fleece lined tights have yet to come in, but I've layering regular tights under sweater tights all week and it's been getting the job done. No more pants for me if I can help it. I do have some pictures to post of some pants outfits, but I hope that doesn't scare anyone away.

This was a pretty easy, perfect for a long day of class and work outfit. On Tuesdays and Thursday, I pretty much go from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. so this cardigan and scarf are starting to become go-to pieces for those days. This scarf is one of the items I received from August Wrinkle and I can't talk it up enough. I received two adorable dresses from them, but oddly enough this simple scarf ended up being my favorite item. It's ridiculously soft and the color goes with everything. I swear I've worn it at least three times a week since I got it.

I still have one more August Wrinkle piece to share, but in the meantime, check out my first post in the series and make sure head over to August Wrinkle to have a look at the lovely pieces for yourself.

Cardigan: Loft (thrifted)

  2. I think I complain or talk about the weather in every single post so girl, you are totally okay! (Maybe it's because the weather dictates so much of our lives and what we're doing that day is why we cold weather gals talk about it so much? I know it's always the daily topic up here with everyone.) Fleece-lined tights make such a difference, you'll really enjoy yours when they come! You always do such a good job dressing cute in the cold, I need a little inspiration from you this morning!

  6. Ah - I feel the same way! Why can't winter be over already? You look adorable though Elana...and I'm sure you would in pants too :-) Those oxfords are quite lovely and so are the shades of blue against the black tights and skirt!

  7. Its funny how the simple items are what worm their ways into most of our outfits, huh? Haha, I'm finding out the same thing. This scarf adds the perfect touch to your outfit!
Also, I totally feel the same way. For some reason, I am not adjusting to this winter as easily, and I can't bear to wear a dress/skirt to school. Although, I did just invest in some fleece lined tights, so I'll have to try it :)

  8. I like this outfit but i'm having a really hard time getting over those heads (busts?) you're posing with lol. What a great backdrop! I totally layer regular tights underneath sweater tights. I'm excited to hear how you end up liking the fleece lined ones! I've heard of them before but i have yet to order any for myself...

  10. I completely agree about the weather, though luckily Colorado has been hit with a bit of a warmer streak lately so I am not complaining! Cant wait until you get to try on your fleece lined tights! This scarf is adorable and I LOVED the green dress from the other post! I am definitely heading over to check out August Wrinkle right now!
Hope you're having a wonderful weekend!

  11. oh i dont know how you do that, i find layering tights/leggings so uncomfortable.. but then again i always get tights that should fit me and are snug. anyway, i have fleece lined tights and they are the greatest ever! although i mean it's like 60 degrees right now but still i need them to bike to work at 8am in the 40 (maybe?) deg cold haha. anyway, I LOVE that dress on you and all the cute layers. congrats on the august wrinkled collaboration, super cool! and always love this spot w/ the random statue heads!

  12. I would like to see some pants outfits from you actually! One can't wear dresses all the time, sometimes it's not practical-especially when it is so cold outside! I do love your scarf. It looks so soft and pretty. And you KNOW I love your mint colored top! Have a great day Elana! :)

  14. So glad you were able to wear something you really love, life can get so drab otherwise! The weather here in Nashville is not nearly as cold, but I'm still a California wimp so it's hard for me! This scarf and sweater look so cozy and man that's a long day, perfect outfit.
