New Things

For someone who likes to consider herself fairly hard-working and motivated, I'm still pretty lazy. Because of this, there's nothing I love more than a dress that speaks for itself and requires minimal effort to wear. When T.J. gave me a Modcloth gift card as part of my Christmas present (he knows me well), I spent far too many hours trying to figure out what to get. After much deliberation, I settled on this one. I loved how it was simple, but still interesting and the color won me over. It was one of those pieces that just screamed "me."

If you can't tell, this past weekend felt like Christmas all over again. Between the gold dress I was gifted, this one that came in the mail, and another package that I can't wait to share, it really felt like it. On another note, if anyone else feels like sending me something, go right ahead. I'd like to keep this feeling going every weekend.

Once again, please buy my things! I beg you, I need to get rid of this stuff finally.

I should also mention these new oxfords. I don't think I've ever mentioned that one of my brothers works for Pacsun. Not in a store, but at HQ, pretty high up in the e-commerce department. He's been ridiculously successful at the company since he was ridiculously young and I've always admired him for it. That said, I've never been the biggest fan of Pacsun as I'd like to be. Don't get me wrong, I never had anything against it, but it just wasn't really my style. Of course, my brother has tried to convince me to shop there for as long as I can remember and every so often I pop in to check it out when I'm shopping. Well, I went in last week and I couldn't believe how perfect these oxfords were. So now, I finally supported my brother and I got some awesome shoes.

Dress: Modcloth
Cardigan: Nordstrom Rack
Shoes: Pacsun
Bracelet: H&M

  7. I can see why this dress won you over, it's pretty and interesting enough to be worn on its own, but it seems like it would be really easy to remix it and wear it a ton of different ways. (What a good guy, that was a smart move getting a gift card like that! I always like being able to pick out my own clothes and it's always so much fun getting packages.) This blue is so pretty and vibrant and I love how it looks with the yellow cardigan, it's such a vibrant color pairing. (And it has such a cool vibe with the shoes! Oooh, I really love that pairing.)

I feel the same way about Pacsun, every now and then they have some cute things, but their dresses are always so short, even on a shrimp like me. Our just packed up and moved though, so no more Pacsun for us, but how cool that your brother works for them like that, I bet he's able to get a decent discount for you.

  8. Haha, TJ definitely knew the perfect gift for you. I think you made a really good choice - that color is just gorgeous! I love the rich, bold blue shade. Plus, the mix of yellow? Those are my old high school colors and I'm still partial to them :)

I just want to say again that I'm bummed we couldn't meet up in LA, BUT it's gonna happen eventually! Pacsun does have some cute stuff, and it's like the essential-CA store so why not :)

  13. What cuteness you are! That shade of blue was made for you.
And the oxfords are awesome! Go Pacsun! (On another note, remember when it was still called Pacific Sunwear? Or am I just showing my age by saying that?)

  19. Pacsun sells shoes like that? I'll have to check them out-I've never shopped there before! Not that there are many places to do so in South Dakota, haha. That color is stunning on you Elana, and I love the cardi with it too! :)

  20. You are so very right, this dress screams Elana- its gorgeous and the color is SO nice on you! The new oxfords are adorable too. I used to love pacsun in high school but haven't even been inside a store in forever. Seeing these, perhaps I should remedy that!

  21. This blue is PERFECT on you! And the surprise of the yellow cardigan. I happen to like PacSun a bit. When I wore jeans, I would only buy theirs. They've gotten way more Cali, but I like it. Some of the PacSun's in my area are going out of business, so I've been scoring some GREAT deals. Anyways, those shoes are very pretty and I'm jealous that you can rock oxfords with most dresses. For me, they make me look too stumpy. And while Flock Together isn't permanent, I hope that feels a bit like random Christmas too!
