Better Late than Never

I'm back from an accidental almost week-long hiatus there. It was partly due to getting busy, but the rain all week definitely didn't help matters. While I was unable to get any more outfit photos since last Monday, a lack of them did prompt me to look back through my photos and see if I had another set I had forgotten about. Fortunately, I really am as forgetful as I had hoped. I took this set featuring Jenna's seriously amazing dress I borrowed sometime over the summer and had intended to save it for a Flock Together post. As you might have been able to tell from my Flock Together post last week, I completely forgot and instead just posted my most recent set. Even though this dress didn't deserve to get lost in a pile of photos like it did, at least it survived and I get to share it now.

Really, how cool is this dress? There are pin-up female superheroes all over it, and it's a little risque in the best way possible. Despite my extremely short height, this dress still ended up being a little on the short side on me, which means a sweater was in order to class it up. Though if I was ever in the mood to put on a short, slightly low-cut dress, you'd better believe this would be it. Who needs a little black dress for going out on the town? Pin-up superheroes is obviously the way to go, and I'm not even being sarcastic.

I actually had an eventful weekend for the first time in a while, as I went to St. Louis with a bunch of editors from the paper for a journalism boot camp. We got there a day early so we could do some light shopping and enjoy St. Louis barbecue and frozen custard, which is quite possibly the greatest dessert ever. I had never had it before I moved to the Midwest a few years ago, and it's still a novelty to me. My friend chose where we ate dinner, so I demanded we all go to Ted Drewes for dessert, where I had only been once before. Oh, man. I would eat that frozen custard for every meal if I could.

The boot camp was a little uneventful, especially since I was the only one on my staff who had attended it last year too (everyone I went with last year graduated), and it was pretty much exactly the same. That said, there was a writing competition that proved to be exciting. We got to sit through a fake press conference and were given an hour to write a story. News writing has never been strongest point (I mostly write entertainment/fashion, opinions or features), but  I ended up getting third place! Even better, our staff members completely swept the competition with one of editors getting first, me getting third and two getting honorable mentions. Thank goodness we've been doing somethings right this whole time.

I'm hoping to finally have time to catch up on blogs, in between watching last night's Breaking Bad and  a How I Met Your Mother viewing party with my friends, of course. I love you guys, but let's face it, nothing comes between me and Breaking Bad. Except work on Sunday nights.

Dress: Borrowed from Jenna
Cardigan: Thrifted
