I totally have interesting things to say today. I am in no way suffering from a case of writer's block, and I have so much going on in my life that I almost don't know where to start. ...Do you think if I keep writing that, it might actually come true? Okay, I really don't have anything interesting to say today. It's a slow week for my internship since my boss is out of town, and while I have some exciting things coming up, not too much is going on at the moment. I'm mostly just counting the days until this Sunday when I'll be going to a taping of one of my favorite podcasts, Harmontown, in LA. Dan Harmon is the creator of "Community" and "Rick and Morty," and his podcast is hilarious. Seeing Harmon will be exciting enough for me, but fingers crossed that some special guests show up as well.
As for the outfit, this is what I wore to that piano bar on Friday. I don't know why I keep ending up at Nordstrom Rack, but when Whitney wanted to go last Thursday, I couldn't say no. And of course, because I'm weak, I ended up walking out with this dress. I was immediately drawn to it in the store, and I instantly fell in love when I put it on. It's not terribly noticeable here, but it's a bit too low-cut for my liking, so I thought I'd offset it with a denim jacket and super casual flats. Though I could probably stand to call some attention to myself when I go out, I'm much more comfortable blending in and making "Freaks and Geeks" references to the people I'm with rather than trying to talk to dudes. I mean, if the piano player is going to play "Come Sail Away," how do I not make a "Freaks and Geeks" reference. Just me? Yeah, just me.
I did finish "Bob's Burgers" yesterday, so that's pretty exciting. I have a whole list of shows to watch next, but I've gotten too distracted by rewatching "The X-Files" ever since I started listening to The X-Files Files podcast. No regrets.
Dress: Double Zero via Nordstrom Rack

I love this dress on you so much! The navy panel at the hem really makes the dress (: and I love that you styled it with a denim jacket. So adorable! (:
ReplyDeleteHOTTIE. This dress looks so good on you- it's a good thing you found yourself at NR that day. I don't think I've ever seen anything that cheap there before! Freaks & Geeks for the win!
ReplyDeleteOh, this dress looks SO good on you! I think that neckline is super flattering, even if it is a little low-cut for your liking (I can totally relate; I find it hard to get v-necks that aren't a little too low for me, too.) It's so, so pretty. I love the navy and white together, and it's perfect with the denim jacket!
ReplyDeleteHaha, don't you love it when writer's block hits? Ugh. But hey, you even made a slow week sound fun, so there's that!

A nine dollar steal! You look great and the jacket goes well with it.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty dress!
ReplyDeleteThis dress is so cute, Im honestly amazed it was only 9 dollars at the Rack! I recently went to the rack also and got an adorable Betsey Johnson dress but it wasn't 9 dollars :( Maybe Ill have more of your luck next time. That podcast taping sounds like it'll be fun, coming from a Community fan that is.

ReplyDeleteGah! The dress is gorgeous, and you look stunning in it. Wow. And hope you get over the writer's block soon. That is seriously the worst thing to shake sometimes, especially when you write for a living.

This dress is beautiful on you. I love how classic its style is. Also you are a jerk for all the cool things you get to do :)
ReplyDeleteNothing interesting here either, it's been such a slow month :D Love this dress and especially the rad jacket, looks kind of bad ass :P
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, X-files, they gave me nightmares when I was little :D
My word, $9? STEAL!
ReplyDeleteI love it, and totally worth it. What a cute dress. Perfect pairing with the denim jacket.
Haha, and I know, I never know what to say on my blog anymore. Sigh. If only I was really good about writing about nothing....
The Dragonfruit Diaries
Yes to Freaks and Geeks! You are so not alone there. I need to re-watch The X-Files too. I started a re-watch binge two years ago and stopped on season six for some reason. Time to revisit that show.
ReplyDeleteAnd wow, $9 for this dress?! That's such a steal. It's gorgeous.
The dress is so elegant, and loving the denim jacket! Alex

$9?? Amazing find! You look like a Greek goddess with the colors. I absolutely love it on you! Was the piano bar in downtown LB by any chance? We just walked by it yesterday for the first time, I didn't even realize it was there!
ReplyDeleteSo, I'm a bit late in commenting on this, but I must say you look AMAZING. Also, with that Freaks and Geeks reference? Definitely not just you. I can't help but envision Sam and Cindy bopping to the beat every time I hear that song.
