Go Sports

I don't have much to say because I'm writing this late on Sunday night, and I'm going to crash at any moment. If I haven't made it obvious yet, I did not watch the Super Bowl yesterday and instead went to the movies. When you're not a sports fan, Super Bowl Sunday is the best for going to normally crowded places. A couple of friends and I saw Selma finally, which completely lived up to the hype. I won't get into all of the politics surrounding the film concerning the Oscar nominations, but now that I've seen it I can finally offer my opinion and say that it was fantastic. I was mostly impressed by the cast, and all those reviews about David Oyelowo's performance being incredibly were correct. It was much more satisfying than watching a football game in my opinion, but then again, most things are.

I got this dress on Wednesday from Urban Outfitters with a gift card I had gotten for Christmas. I don't really have money to buy things right now, but it was nice to have a much-needed shopping trip with my friend Casey. Most of my time is spent surrounded by guys (like being at a party where I'm the only girl the night I wore this on Friday), so it's nice to have a little girl time every once in a while, even if I am bad at making girl friends. I loved how this dress paired with this cardigan, but I'm pretty excited to wear it without a belt and with a lace bandeau underneath during the summer.

This week is already jam packed with pop culture related things like Parks and Rec night, a taping of @Midnight, and my last Community/Mr. Show binge watch with my friend Jon before he moves to Seattle next week. I'm not okay with it.

Dress: Urban Outfitters
Cardigan: H&M
Boots: Reflection
Ring: Fifth & Mae

  1. You look so beautiful! (per usual!) I really love the colors in this look--the purple cardigan really makes the outfit!

  2. Love the title of this post, l o l. Going to the movies on Superbowl Sunday is genius! Selma is definitely on my list to see. I was happy to have the game on in the background/watch commericals/Katy Perry, but I wasn't jazzed about it taking up my entire day :/ love this combo! Happy Monday, friend!

  3. I should've gone to the movies yesterday! What a great idea! I can copy this outfit 100%, so I'm definitely going to since all of the snow is sucking the creativity out of me!

  4. I am beyond envious of your bare legs at the moment, but we won't get into that, hah! Lovely look, that cardigan looks great on you and I want your boots!

  7. Shopping with gift cards is the best! I had a good Target shopping trip on a gift card from graduation back in May. It quelled my urge to shop without spending precious money! This dress you picked up is very cute. It has a cool almost-neutral pattern. It'd look good with so many things. I like the oversized cardigan paired with it too.

  9. Not into the Superbowl either- surprise, surprise :) We thought about the movies because you're right, it's great to go out on that day when everything but sports bars is abandoned :) I was sick so it was a board game night instead. Cute dress and I love the comfy/chic look with the sweater. I want some gift cards to go shopping with!!

  10. I'm not into Football either but went to a party to not watch the game but rather chat it up with friends. I did want to see the half time show but thought it was just "Meh".... you look cute though and those boots are fun!

  11. Tehehe, your title sums it up perfectly. Instead of watching the Superbowl, I worked, napped, watched Friends, and did a little homework. Yup, I'm super pro-sports :P
I like what you did better though. Selma is a movie I've been hoping to see!
Anyway, love the cute dress Elana, especially paired with the tan accents of your cardigan and cute boots. Lovely!

  12. You look great! I'm loving this dress and that cardigan looks super comfortable.

I haven't seen Selma yet, but I really want to! My housemates and I watched Moulin Rouge instead of watching the Super Bowl - I think that was a good choice! :)
