There's really nothing that special to say about this outfit, but even during the summer, grabbing a collared dress and a cardigan is a habit of mine. It's second nature while getting dressed at this point. Now that I've been blogging for a year (!), I have enough posts to start doing remix posts and may have to do one on this dress first. It's become such a staple in my closet since getting it last summer and I don't think I'll ever run out of ways to wear it.
This is what I wore yesterday to visit my old drama department and teacher from high school. Going into my senior year of college, it's hard to believe how long ago high school was and how much my life has changed since then. Though I've since given up on theater, it was such a big part of my life and being there made me realize how much I missed it. As with most things, it's not so much theater that I miss, but the people who I did it with. I know I'm rambling about things that no one else really cares about now, but it was surreal to be back in a place I hadn't been in years and for it to feel so familiar. I guess being home just does that to you.
Also, don't forget to enter my big one year of blogging giveaway to win some awesome stuff from small businesses! It closes at midnight!
Also, I'm excited to be working with Joyce on some changes to my design! I'll be keeping my header, since it's the one thing I really love, but Joyce is working some other elements of the page for me and, judging by the work she's done on her own blog and for other blogs I love, I am positive that it's going to be great. So if things look a little weird around here in the next few days or so, it's because there's likely some "construction" happening.

I feel your pain. I did theater in high school and loved it, and now I think I'll be too busy in college to do any theater stuff. D: Oh well. At any rate, I love that dress. Seriously you look so cute in it!
ReplyDeleteThis is so adorable! I love your cardigan :D

Exciting to see some blog re-design things! And you look like a doll in that cardigan- love it!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about "giving up on theatre." I think for me, it is largely the people I miss and that sense of comradierie. When I switched majors from theatre, one of things I was surprised about going from high school theatre (we were a total rag-tag group too trying to bring back a pretty depleted program) to college was as a profession it could lack a sense of purpose. I always felt very connected with theatre and a feeling that what we did made a difference. Parents liked their troubled kids to join because it "turned them around," and schools loved to bring their students to our shows because we talked with them afterwards etc. In retrospect, I think this sense of making a difference came largely from the two women who directed shows I was in growing up; both were rather charismatic. They were fantastic mentors. And clearly not all professional endeavors lack that sense of purpose (I love, for example, Montana's Shakespeare in the Parks and in the Schools, which has a goal of bringing art to small rural towns). Bwah. Now I'm rambling. Point is- so glad you enjoyed getting to go back and see people and familiar places!
Oooh, I've been wanting to recruit Joyce to redesign my blog! Once FAFSA and some scholarships fill my bank account I think I will...haha
ReplyDeleteYou know, you wear a lot of variations on skirts and dresses, but this look is one of my favorites! Something about everything that just goes so perfectly together. I love those light blue wedges <3

It's funny that sometimes when we think our outfits are simple, they end up being the best to readers... Seriously, this is one of my favorite outfits of yours! That dress is perfect on you. Great shape and I love the collar. And the cardigan, shoes, and ring are so lovely!! And wait....... WHY didn't I know that you did theatre in high school?! I love finding bloggers who either are currently or were formerly performers! And I know what you mean - some of the bonds that you make in shows are formed so quickly and strongly that unless someone else does theatre, it's hard to explain.

Sometimes simple is better - I always have to remind myself that, too!
ReplyDeleteYou look lovely and the changes so far to your blog do too.

I know that reaction - I've had it every time I've stepped into a theatre since my last musical. I miss the people, and I miss the way I felt onstage. It's definitely weird to look back on things that have been big parts of our lives. Anyways. I love your cardigan and dress and shoes, they're all very cute and look so good together!

Even though this outfit is simple, the detailing on all your pieces like the cardi and collar on the dress really make it perfection! Sometimes I go overboard with making outfits too complicated....this is inspiring to me :-).
ReplyDeleteHigh school was ages ago for me...it's hard to believe how time flies!

Oh heyyy Elana! First off, great shoes! I just ran into my high school drama teacher at a wedding! I had missed theater so so much and thats why I was so happy to be in my school's musical this past fall, because I may not have another chance! I haven't been back to my school in a while but that is just the strangest feeling. High school is getting further and further away! Weird.

Oh yay!! I love Joyce! She did such an amazing job with my blog, can't wait to see what she does with yours! Also, those shoes! they're the perfect color! I need some purpley shoes in my life. And your summer wardrobe is basically the same as mine :) I love it!

THOSE SHOES. I absolutely love them! I kind of feel like I don't have enough material to remix even though I've been blogging for two years. I actually try to incorporate older pieces now so I can do remix posts... but I have yet to do one lol. I love Joyce! She actually did some work on my sister's blog too. She's so sweet and talented! I may ask her to spruce up my blog as well, it could use some freshening up!

I can't believe how long ago high school was either. It's so weird! I get really nostalgic for my high school theatre days too. I miss both the people and performing in musicals. Memories....
ReplyDeleteAnyway, you look so cute in your collared dress and cardigan. That's always just a great combination. Your blue shoes are fantastic too!
