Coolest Girl in School

Have I told you all how awesome Jessica is? In case I haven't — she's ridiculously awesome. Jessica and I have been emailing each other for more than a year now, and it's safe to say that we would be best "real life" friends if we could ever find the funds to meet  up in Chicago for a great adventure. I saw Jessica wearing this dress on her blog a little while ago, and I was immediately smitten, which I told her about. When I needed some cheering up recently, Jessica sent me this dress to borrow as a surprise and completely brightened my mood. Though I have to say, I almost wish she hadn't. It's comfortable, fits like a dream, and has my biggest weaknesses: stripes and a fit and flare cut. How am I supposed to give this one back?

I decided to mix things up and dress this one down a bit since I wanted to try something different than a cardigan for once. This pastel lavender button down is one of my favorite scores ever (only $15 at Madewell a year ago), and I've never tried wearing it open over a dress. I really like the laid-back vibe it gave the look, and combined with some leaning against a brick wall, I was feeling pretty damn cool in this.

I do apologize that it was pretty dark when Mary and I took these photos yesterday. I tried my best to lighten them up, but we all know that I'm bad at things. Mary, however, is much better at things than I am, and I still ended up loving a ton of these shots.

I'm really not digging this whole getting dark at 5 p.m. thing. Not cool, Daylight Savings. Not cool.

Dress: Borrowed from Jessica
Shirt: Madewell
Belt: Vintage
Boots: Endless

It's getting dark here at 330/4 now, and it's the worst for blogging, ugh! Blogger problems

  15. You know what other thing you're bad at? Whining about how bad you are at things. No one will ever live up to Mary, so we should just stop trying ;)

  16. Hi girlfriend! These pictures are fab (love especially the one of you in between the windows with your arms out! gahh!), and I'm digging the button-up over the dress, so cool! Agreed with the daylight savings time, by the time I'm out of work there's no time for photos, exercise, anything! Hope you are doing well Elana!!

  19. Daylight savings is the worst! I don't mind it getting light earlier, since it makes it easier for me to get up, but I feel like it gets dark so fast I can't do anything outside since the light is so fleeting! :P Love your outfit--that dress is perfection!

  21. Daylight savings is making my blog photos very complicated and so much more stressful! all summer and fall I was taking them after I got off work at 5, so now I'm in a bit of a bind.
Love your outfit though and how you incorporated color! Stripes are always a favorite of mine too :)

  22. I'm not liking the sun going down so early either! Whyyy? Makes it so difficult to take pictures!
But I digress. This striped dress is definitely a cool girl dress. It's so cute on you! I can definitely understand how you wouldn't want to give it back. It probably goes with everything too. This post is reminding me to wear the striped dress I recently bought.
