Tis the Season

If these pictures don't say it enough, I'm pretty pumped that Christmas is so soon. This will forever be my favorite time of year, and I can hardly contain my excitement. This weekend was full of family bonding time and festive activities, which only added to my bliss. On Friday, my parents took my brother, his girlfriend (who happens to be one of my friends), and me wine tasting, which was absolutely wonderful. Even though I'm not the biggest wine drinker, I still wanted to go for the experience, and it did not disappoint. It was a gorgeous day full of good food (the most amazing cheese), beautiful scenery (we started the day off in downtown Temecula, which was lovely, and ended it at the prettiest winery I ever did see), good company, and of course, tons of wine. I didn't drink too much, mostly because I was still getting over the stomach flu that I had caught a couple days before, but even so, I had a blast. Then, on Saturday, we had a Christmas party with family friends who I've known my entire life, complete with a white elephant gift exchange. I was fortunate enough to come out of it with a not-so-white-elephant Godiva hot chocolate gift set, so I did pretty well for myself. Yesterday included breakfast with my family at my dad's restaurant and seeing American Hustle — which was, in a word, insane. Basically what my rambling is getting it is that I had a fantastic weekend, and I'm not quite ready for all of this Christmas cheer to end in a couple of days.

Naturally, some cute outfits were vital to accompanying all of these fun activities. This is what I wore for the Christmas party on Saturday, and although I didn't think much of it, I ended up getting quite a few compliments on it. I do wish these photos captured the shape of this sweater a bit better, because despite having it for a couple years now, I don't think I've ever featured it on here in a way that's done it justice. Regardless, I'm excited to show off some new accessories, including this bow belt and wishbone ring that the folks over at Born Pretty were kind enough to send me. I swear, I've worn this belt at least five times since I got it last week.

I suppose I should follow up with some answers about the movie screening I hinted it in a post last week. It was a screening for a new movie that Jason Bateman directed, and yes, he was there. Unfortunately, that stomach flu I mentioned hit me night before the screening, and I was bedridden and unable to go. I'm a giant Jason Bateman fan (Arrested Development is one of my favorite shows of all time, in case you've somehow missed me ranting about it), so needless to say, I don't think I'll ever forgive my body for this. I'm trying to rack my brain for something awful I did to earn such bad karma, but I'm coming up short. I must have done something though, because that was the worst timing in the history of bad timings.

  1. Elana- all the pictures come up as saying they are private and that I don't have permission to view them.

    1. It's probably because flickr is being really stupid and messed with the HTML coding so that it embeds your photostream instead of just a single photo. Elana, what I've had to do is just select "BBCode" and take the url out of it and type in the img tags manually. It's obnoxious and I hope flickr fixes it soon!

    2. You can just select the HTML option, though? It's still there for me.

  2. So sorry you were sick and what a bummer to miss out on the screening! At least you made up for it with some fun celebrating over the weekend! I've never been to Temecula but it's funny because in design school we had to make a wine label for a project and I was given a Sav Blanc from Temecula :)

  4. You have such lovely pictures! :) Looking at all your Christmas decorations and preparations makes me so excited for Christmas! I can hardly wait! We're also going to have a Christmas Eve feast soon and I'm really looking forward to that:) That belt is so cute, haha- belts are such a small piece of accessory, but totally necessary to pull your outfit together, especially for dresses! xx

  8. Such a pretty outfit, Elana! I love the belt, especially. I didn't realize you were sick -- it seems everyone caught that flu!! I hope you're feeling better now :) and your weekend sounds like fun! I really don't drink much in general (and definitely not wine), but I would definitely go just for the cheese, hehe. Hope your holiday was lovely (do you celebrate both also???)!
