Mustard

If this weekend was any indication, I think it's safe to say that Christmas is this week. I spent both Saturday and Sunday wearing and being surrounded by ugly sweaters, which I think is a pretty fun way to spend a weekend. On Saturday, I went to two Christmas parties, one that was hosted by my parents for a group of close family friends and one for my own close group of friends. My brother and his girlfriend also came back into town that day, so on top of getting to eat cookies and participating in a white elephant exchange, I also got to spend time with them. After getting hardly any sleep the night before and working at 7 a.m. that morning, I was pretty exhausted by the end of the day, but I can't even complain about work. We all wore Christmas sweaters at the restaurant I work at and exchanged Secret Santa presents, so both of my shifts this weekend were more enjoyable than usual. It also gave me an excuse to get a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sweater (you can see photos on my Instagram) and a T-shirt with Yoda dressed as Santa, not that I needed one.

Let's talk about this outfit though. I showed you my Aggie top from Fleet Collection last week, and I mentioned that I got the skirt version as well. I really just want to never take it off. It paired perfectly with this mustard thermal that I picked up from Urban while I was doing my Instagram takeover for Brea Mall. I normally would never spend $35 on a thin top that's pretty plain and casual, but when I tried it on because of the color and ended up loving the way it looked on me, I had to get it. Of course, it was easy to justify since I was shopping on the mall's dime. I've already gotten a ton of use out of it, and it's one of the most comfortable things I own. I'm also excited to debut these sunglasses. Zero UV kindly sent me three pairs of frames, and I really love them all. Plus, Zero UV is based out of Huntington Beach, and I'm all for supporting Orange County brands.

Speaking of supporting brands, I got two Christmas cards over the weekend that made my heart melt. The first was from Modcloth, thanking me for being an active member of the Style Gallery. I'm sure they sent these out to a lot of people, but it really meant a lot that it was hand written and that they took the time to send me a thank you. The second card was from my friends Natalie and Grace who run Everything Darling. I knew they were going to send me a card since they asked for my address, but it was such a pleasant surprise to find a Starbucks card inside to thank me for supporting their business. I'm more than happy to support brands and businesses that I genuinely love, but it's made even easier when I get surprised with personal touches like these.

  2. Gift cards are perfect for buying things we can't normally justify- and even better that you've gotten a lot of wear out of this shirt already! Sounds like a great holiday weekend- your family sounds so fun! Such a cute outfit for California "winter" :)

  3. Ahh I had to go to Instagram to check out your TMNT sweater. Can I steal it from you? Forever? :D

And your outfit is super cute, as always. I'm shocked your shoes are thrifted. I can never find good thrift store shoes and those look adorable.

I hope you have a lovely Christmas!

  4. I so want to go to an Ugly Sweater party, but this year the one friend we have who always hosts a Christmas party had a cocktail party instead... which I actually didn't realize it was cocktail dress until like an hour before we got there, and we weren't at home so I couldn't wear a fancy dress. (Thankfully, Target had one that worked. But I would have done SO much more!)

Anyway! You look so cute in this! I love that skirt, and I totally understand you buying the shirt; it looks great on you!
