More Plaid

Can you tell that I'm having a bit of a plaid moment? I'm not sure why, but I've been drawn to the pattern recently more than I ever have. I don't think I owned a single plaid item until this past fall, but now I can't stop buying it. My most recent plaid addition to my closet is this green button down that I picked up from H&M while perusing South Coast Plaza last week with my sister-in-laws. I had been on the lookout for a plaid button down or a lightweight flannel for a little while, and I couldn't resist the color of this one.

My favorite part of this outfit, though, is the necklace, which my good friend, Nataly, made and gave to me. I actually met Nataly through blogging a couple of years ago (which is crazy to think about now), and we became real life friends when we realized how close we lived to each other. She's since stopped blogging regularly and moved to LA to attend UCLA, but we still try to see each other when we can. She recently started making and selling these wooden necklaces on Instagram for only $5, and I immediately claimed two of them. We met up for the loveliest breakfast in downtown Fullerton last week, and she gave me the necklaces wrapped in the sweetest package before we wondered into some adorable shops. If you want one of your own, make sure to check out her Instagram, @art_fawn.

The past couple of weeks have been crazy with my brother and his family in town. I spent the last 10 days playing nonstop with my nieces and nephew, eating a ton of food, going to Sea World, and staying at the beach in Oceanside for a few days. Between all of that, getting to see my friend Justin (who was in town visiting from Illinois), working, and spending New Year's Eve drinking and playing Cards Against Humanity with my best friends, I've barely had a moment to myself. Things have since calmed down, so now I get to have some time for catching up on reading and listening to the Fleet Foxes vinyls I borrowed from my friend Jon.

I'm not one for New Year's resolutions, but I do have some ideas for this blog. I definitely have made it a goal to do more pop culture posts, including posts about upcoming entertainment. I'm also thinking of doing a 30-day (or longer) no shopping challenge to motivate myself to focus what's in my closet while saving money for an apartment and my students loans. Are there any kinds of posts, pop culture or otherwise, you'd like to see from me this year?

  6. Plaid and winter just go hand in hand, so maybe those surprising cold Cali days have made you love it more :) I love your pop culture posts! I think we have pretty similar taste so I love hearing about new things from you!

  8. Yup, you can never lose with a good plaid print! That has been one of my favorite prints this year. Or at least, that I've recently fallen for haha
Your buttoned down skirt is so cute too.
I didn't make any New Year's resolutions either, but I have vague ideas for what I'd like to aim for. Can't wait to see these posts from you! The Pop Culture would definitely be a great one to expand on :)

  10. Oh man, I miss South Coast Plaza! All the stores all in one place! Great choice on that plaid shirt, it's adorable! I haven't tried pairing my plaid with anything other than jeans but this outfit makes me want to try them with a skirt!
