Sorry Not Sorry

I feel a little bad posting these photos of me with bare legs and only a light sweater to deflect from the fact that it was 80 degrees when I took these photos yesterday. Everywhere I turn on social media, my friends are posting photos and statuses of snow storms and negative temperatures as I complain about how short lived tights season was.

Okay, fine. I don't feel that bad. After four years in the Midwest and living through the hell that was winter last year, I'm pretty damn happy to spending this January in Southern California. I miss the seasons, and I'm glad that it's going to be a little colder next week, but I can't deny how great it is to not have to worry about my face falling off every time I walk out the door. Sorry, guys. But not really.

I got this dress from a J. Crew Factory sale a couple months ago, but I didn't love how it looked on me so it sat in my room forever. I decided that I was being crazy and that a polka dot print this good deserved to be shared with the world. I still prefer an A-line skirt, but it's nice to try something a tiny bit different every so often.

The past couple of days have been spent applying to more jobs than I can count and getting motivated again to finally enter the real world. I already heard back from one place that wants to set up an interview, so I'm hoping that it's a sign of good things to come. The past few months have been rough for me, but I'm feeling invigorated and more optimistic than I have in a while. I'm going to have some good job related news to share soon, I just know it. Well, at least that's what I tell myself to remain sane.

Other than that, I've been doing some reading (Amy Poehler's "Yes Please"), movie watching (finally watching and loving "Snowpiercer"), and sitting in my friend's backyard and having serious conversations about the best Coen Brothers' films with a bunch of boys (we all agree that "Burn After Reading" is by far the most underrated). I'm also gearing up to see Louis CK with a couple of them this weekend, and I can't wait. Adulthood will be here sooner than I'm ready for, so it's nice to have the free time to enjoy things while I can.

  1. Can't say I'm not incredibly jealous of you right now, haha. I'm freezing my face off, and it's only a week into January. Damn you, Canada!

  2. Guess how many degrees we have here in Nashville right now: NINETEEN! You know how that is! I think the dress looks great, glad you decided to give it a spin. Layering a slouchy cardigan over definitely takes away any worries about fit (at least it does for me!) Sending you good thoughts for the job search! You are so smart and capable, something awesome is just waiting for you!!

  10. I'm so glad you decided to give that dress a try because it's so adorable on you! I'm also a sucker for waterfall cardigans and it goes well with your dress.

I'm in SoCal visiting for another day and this rain is bumming me out! We started out our trip pretty warm (although we missed the 80 degree days, boo) and now I'm cold like at home. Oh well, we had a day of warmth anyway. And hey, it's better than the 30s temps we left back in Denver!
