Lake House

This whole blogging while working a full-time job thing is not easy, is it? I really love blogging and have no intentions of giving it up anytime soon, but it has been a real struggle to take outfit pictures and get posts up. Luckily, I had a really fun weekend that included taking not one, but two sets of photos. It's the true definition of success.

Oh Saturday, I met up with my friend Caitlin in Venice. Caitlin and I were in the same major in college, and she recently move out to Southern California after living in Illinois her entire life. We finally got a chance to hang out, and we had delicious coffee and food before walking around Abbot Kinney to look at all of the too-expensive shops. I hadn't seen Caitlin since last May, so it was wonderful to get to catch up and show her a part of California that she hadn't seen yet. I already can't want to hang out with her more now that she's here.

I do have some photos from that day, but this set is from yesterday. While I ended up at my brother's house when my parents decided to sell their house, they moved to a lake, about an hour away. I hadn't been to their place since the official move, so I made the drive yesterday afternoon. I've still seen them a bunch, but it was nice to have dinner with them, and of course, to take advantage of their laundry machine and fancy shower. I also convinced my mom to help me with these photos, and I'm really loving getting to use their balcony and lake view as a backdrop.

I actually wore this outfit to work last week and then again yesterday. It's the perfect "feels like summer" outfit, and I love how both this top and this skirt look with just about everything.

  2. I love the back drop. Wish my parents would move to a lake. I would be there every weekend possible.

  3. You look super cute!

The key to getting ahead with blogging is on your free day (for me Sunday's), I re-wear all the outfits I wore during the week and shoot them. It's a lot of work, but it saves me during the week.

  4. Oh, what a pretty outfit! I like the balcony too- it have lush greens in the background that set off the simplicity of the outfit well.

  7. Oh man, working full time and blogging is no joke - it's worse on the east coast, I would say because in the winter the sun sets at like, 3 in the afternoon and there's no time to take pictures of outfits after work or anything. I'm happy that you're finding ways to make it work because I really enjoy reading your blog!
Love this casual outfit - I really like your polka dot tank and the material of your skirt really does feel like summer! Super cute!

  8. Ugh, juggling work and blogging is difficult! I've been digging through old photos and trying to organize them into posts to stay ahead. Aha, so I totally hear you on it! I've been trying to be better at comments like I used to be (how was I so dedicated!?), but I've been slacking.
Anyway, love the outfit girl! Those shoes are adorable, and there's nothing as pleasant as a nice polka dot print :)

  9. I start full time work tomorrow so I'll be figuring out the blogging and taking pictures thing while doing that. Somehow I made it work while interning full time but I don't really remember how... It worries me! I do really like this outfit here. It's a cute work outfit. You can't go wrong with a polka dot shirt and pretty sandals.

  10. Ooh sounds like your parents moved to a cool place, which may help soften the blow of them leaving your childhood home. I also love that you called it "laundry machine"- haha :) I totally copied you on the shoes and I love them so much. They were cute with socks during the winter and I know I will wear them obsessively this summer!
