Early V-Day

I can't say that I really care that much about Valentine's Day, but I also can't pass up the opportunity to dress for the occasion. My anniversary with Jon was last week, so we usually spend more time celebrating that the week before everything gets super crowded. This year, we celebrated a bit early so I could take a day off from work, and we went to Balboa Island, as we do every year. And as it is every year, it was a perfect day. It's crazy to think that we've been together three years, but it's also crazy that it's only been three years. I'm so excited for even more anniversaries and Valentine's Day to come with him. (I usually hate writing anything cheesy, but he's made me soft. Damn him!)

While we aren't doing anything big on V-Day this year, I still had use it as an excuse to break out a little red dress. I got this one off of Amazon before Dapper Day last year, and it has to be one of my most comfortable, stretchiest dresses. A true score in my book. I know that I accidentally over-saturated it while editing, but it's late and I'm too tired to re-do them. So enjoy my overly saturated photos and 10 p.m. ramblings. It's past my bedtime, okay?

In Movie Pass news, we also saw Coco the day we celebrated our anniversary and cried our eyes out (not really, but I did tear up). Last weekend was The Post, and while it wasn't my favorite of all of the movies I've seen lately, I still enjoyed it.

In non-movie pop culture news, I started watching Altered Carbon with my friend and I hate that I have to wait for him to watch more. I also have been binge watching Psych lately, and my latest podcast obsession is Atlanta Monster, just like everyone else.

Dots and Rainbows

You know those outfits that you just feel like yourself in? This is one of those. It just feels so classic "me." It actually has been a while since I've worn polka dots on the blog, which strange for me. Obviously that needed to be fixed. I've actually had quite the struggle to find the perfect polka dot skirt, despite the fact that I've bought plenty. They've all either been to short, too small, or just plain not quite right. It has been much harder than I would have expected to find the right one. Luckily, Kristina of The Eyre Effect recently recommended a brand on Amazon in a blogging Facebook group that we're in, and it turns out that there were perfect A-line skirts for cheap with my name on them this whole time. This one is everything I've been looking for so I may have to buy it in multiple colors and patterns. This outfit also featured my new pastel rainbow wedges that I scored for $10 at the BAIT warehouse sale. Talk about beautiful. I don't think I'll ever take them off.

This week is weirdly busy for me, but that mostly consists of getting dinner with friends. Other than that, it's just my same old watching TV and falling asleep early every day. I did watch all of Girlboss even though I thought it was terrible. Funny how I still ended up binging it all. It was definitely interesting considering I've been following along with Nasty Gal since its birth, but I straight up hated almost every single character. I also didn't appreciate how it made fun of the vintage community. But alas, addicting TV is addicting TV.

Gray Sweater + Gingham Collar

Happy New Year! My first post of 2017 is a short one, of course. Lately, I've been taking outfit photos more for Instagram than for blogging, but I can't quite bring myself to completely let go of this medium. I end up taking more photos than necessary on most occasions anyway, so it's nice to be able to dump them all in one spot so I don't feel like a total narcissist for taking so many.

I hope you all enjoyed your holidays! The past couple of weeks have been crazy busy, what with Christmas and my brother and his family coming into town from Illinois. It's been crazy in a good way, though, as it's been, well, joyous getting to spend so much time with loved ones. Jon and I had a bit of struggle trying to make time for both of our families, but it ended up working out great.

I also got loads of baking/cooking stuff, which I mean, definitely isn't the most important part of Christmas, but doesn't hurt. I'm still getting to used to the whole getting excited about bowls and pans rather than shoes and purses thing. It's strange growing up.

I did get excited about this sweater I just got though. I've been searching high and low for the right weight crew neck sweater that wasn't cheap looking or too expensive and I finally found this one on Amazon. It's so comfy and perfect for layering, and I never want to take it off.
