The Usual

I can't say that there's anything too special about this outfit except that it feels so very me. I know I say that pretty often, but there are just certain items that I think tend to define my style. Peter Pan collar? Check. High-waisted skirt? Check. Cardigan? Check. Flats and a thrifted accessory? Check and check. Sometimes I'm not really sure why Katherine chose to give up this skirt when she sent it to me as a gift, but I couldn't be more grateful that she did. It's the perfect length and style for me, plus the color and print are undeniably adorable. Seriously, Katherine, you're the best. Target has the best gems sometimes.

I don't quite understand how it's actually the end of March already and it's starting to freak me out. Suddenly, everything that I thought I had time to complete is hitting me at once. I suppose that happens every semester though, but the fact that it has felt like January up until didn't help. Luckily, it's finally starting to warm up and I can only hope it stays. Honestly, I'll never get used to the fact that I consider 40-50 degrees warming up, but I do now. California me from three years ago wants me to know that I'm insane.

I think I've explained the heads in some of pictures once or twice, but I still get comments on them so I guess should elaborate again. I've considered just making it a game where I never address the fact that they're in my pictures, but I'm weak.

Basically, the newspaper office is located in the Heating Plant Annex, which is this really old building where, well, the heating plant is. Most of pictures are taken in this neat little nook on the side of the building that's really secluded and convenient for me since I usually duck out to take them during work or after a journalism class I have in there. Our office is on the third floor, but there some art classes on the ground floor. I'm not sure how many are in there, but I know for sure that there's a ceramics class since these heads have been there for as long as I can remember. Sometimes, more heads get added and someone always moves them around in different positions. Last week they were all in pairs kissing, this week they're lined up in a row against the wall. Needless to say, they're the highlight of my day whenever I walk into work from that entrance.

  2. Totally glad I gave it up - it's quite literally 8 billion times cuter on you than it was on me. IT's super comfy, but I always looked funny in it for some reason? It looks a lot better on you, I didn't even recognize it at first. You'll get more use out of it. Funny, I have a grey cardigan like this I loved to pair with the skirt - yours has much cuter little details at the neck! I love that you have these random heaads all the time, honestly they never phased me because I went to design/art school an there was crap like this all around our building. I should go take photos there one day.

Also, thanks for explaining the heads again. :) I'm always intrigued by them when they show up in your posts but I never quite knew why they were there. Mystery solved!

  7. The cut and print of the skirt are adorable! That last photo is my favorite, I wish I could find a perfect little nook to take pictures when stepping out from work, I am always too afraid someone from my office would see though!

  8. Whoa, 40 degrees is tropical weather! It is crazy to think that April is almost here, winter seems like it's lingering on and on forever but the year so far has really flown past. I always enjoy the posts with all of the heads in the garden, they are so amusing! It's fun to know the little story behind them and now I know why they keep moving around.

This outfit does look very "you!" I really like how subtle the key pattern is on the skirt, I thought it was a dots print until the close up photos. (And really, a Target skirt? Every time I go to Target it's always "eh" and then I come back and everyone on the net has these amazing, special finds from there. Our Targets must be anemic or something.)
