Back to Classics

And so, just like that, the festivities are over and it's officially time to return to the real world. Fortunately, the "real world" I live in is still pretty laid-back considering I work from home, make my own hours for my internship, and it feels like I'm on summer break. Nonetheless, it's always a little disappointing when a birthday is over and you have to resume paying for yourself when you want food. I know I already talked about my Disneyland in yesterday's post, but I do just want to say again how grateful I am to my friends for always making birthdays so special. Other than Disneyland, they took me out to dinner, took me out for drinks, took me to breakfast, and gave me Amazon gift cards to feed my online shopping addiction. Sometimes it gets a little exhausting being friends with a bunch of dudes who constantly yell at me to make more girl friends and quote Tim & Eric constantly, but then they're really awesome like last week and I remember why I hang out with those losers. Plus, I'm eternally grateful to my best friend Whitney for always doing more for me on my birthday than I ever deserve. Okay, enough gushing about my friends. Don't tell any of them that I said these things, and let's just move on to the outfit.

I would like to give a big warm welcome to my new Swedish Hasbeens, a pair of beautiful shoes that will most likely never leave my feet. I've known all month that my parents were going to give me money for my birthday, so I've had some time to think about what I wanted to put it toward. I contemplated getting multiple things with the money, but I finally decided that I wanted to make one big purchase and get something that I would never buy myself. After much debate, and with the help of my mom, I finally settled on getting a pair of Hasbeens. I've always wanted a pair, and thanks to the Swedish Hasbeens store on Amazon, I was finally able to make these mine. There were more than I few that I wanted, but I decided that the Lacy sandals fit my style the best. but are still different than anything I own. I like that they have a little bit of a heel, and while I went back and forth on color, I figured that I should just stick with black since I'll get the most use out of them. They are by far the most expensive shoes that I own, but they're also by far the best quality and will no doubt be my longest lasting pair.

The rest of this outfit is nothing too special, but I'm loving just simple, understated pieces right now. I feel like the shopping bug has bit me, so I'm hoping to go thrifting sometime soon to keep my spending under control. I'm hoping that one day I can be completely satisfied with my wardrobe and that I won't feel the need to buy new things and get rid of things. (We all know this will never happen.)

  1. I really love the simplicity of this outfit! I also wouldn't have guessed that the necklace was from F21 -- it looks pricier! And of course, I love the Swedish Hasbeens. I want a pair, but I usually have a problem spending more than like, $50 on shoes!

  2. Dang it! I'm so jealous!!! I still don't have a pair of Swedish Hasbeens. They look amazing on you and will surely go with everything. You can't go wrong with these basics... you got it girlie! Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

  3. I LOVE this outfit! And we're shoe twins now- I have the same pair. If you're finding that the ankle strap is rough on your feet (as I have with every pair of Swedish Hasbeens I've owned), you should grab some of those foot petals heel pads and cut them down to stick on the strap. It makes SUCH a big difference.

  4. Happy birthday again (I fully believe you get at least a week to celebrate!)! Sounds like you had a great time and you have amazing friends. I love the SH you picked out! I've had that style in my Amazon wish list bc I want a pair with heels, but can't quite justify a 2nd pair in one summer... maybe with my bday money in August :) It's different seeing you in heels- they look so cute!

  5. Those shoes are adorable! Putting money towards more expensive but well made items is always worth the investment. You'll have them forever.

  15. Ah those are so great. I actually have wanted a pair of Hasbeens for awhile! They are such a splurge though but one I know eventually I will get. Do you think they are comfortable? Also its odd but as understated as you keep saying this outfit is, I think its pretty amazing. And your friends sound like keepers!

  16. Those Swedish Hasbeens are stinkin' CUTE. I really want a pair, but haven't been able to justify the price. Some day I will just have to splurge. Or maybe for Christmas?
Your Disney pictures have had me writhing with jealously! Disney parks truly are the best place on earth.
