Cooperative

I can't gush enough about this dress. I've been in love with this dress ever since I first spotted it, in multiple colors, at Urban ages ago. They must have started stocking it at least a couple of years ago, because I can't even remember how many times I've tried it on, only to pass it up due to the price. It's a simple piece, really, but for some reason I've just always been enamored the flattering shape and the simplicity of it. Imagine my delight when someone in the swap group I'm in agreed to send me this in exchange for a dress that's been sitting in my closet for forever. The funny thing is, the brand of the dress is Cooperative, and the same exact day this dress came in the mail, I nabbed these Cooperative sandals at a thrift store for a few bucks. Being dressed by Urban for close to nothing is a talent of mine, I guess.

I'm not sure how obvious it is, but I'm actually wearing lipstick in these photos. I usually despise having anything on my lips, but I've been wanting to step outside my comfort zone and try a red lip for a while. I borrowed this one from my mom, and I figured a photo shoot was the perfect time to see if I liked it. Turns out, I really like how it looks. I may become a full-on lipstick convert soon, watch out.

Is is just me, or do these sandals look kind of weird on? I really do like them, but I can't help but think they look strange on my feet now that I see them in pictures. Oh well. I'm a strong supporter of weird looking feet.

  4. I've been trying to use lipstick more too! I always felt awkward wearing it but now I'm really starting to love it.

Ugh...I hate how expensive Urban is. I usually end up just going straight for the sale section...haha.

  7. Everything about this is just so simplistic and beautiful, Elana! Your hair is perfect, the dress is darling, and the nude sandals are the perfect pairing! I never wore lipstick until about a year ago, and now I can't go anywhere without it! Beware, you will become addicted :) especially considering how fabulous it looks on you!

  10. I understand your love for this dress - it's very cute, and the bodice is amazing. The shoes are very cute, and don't worry - anything that has laces will forever look slightly weird in pictures. (And honestly, feet and foot-shaped things are just kind of weird in general (though often cool), so I wouldn't worry).

  12. I can't believe you scored this dress via swap! I have the same one in a punch-red color and it has always been such a go-to piece for me. You look classic and lovely here. The red lipstick is gorgeous on you Elana!

  14. I love this dress on you! I've tried swapping groups, but everyone just wants money? Show me your ways. Also the lipstick is beautiful on you and the way you describe Urban is how I feel about all their clothes -- expensive, plain, but pretty. I have on many accounts spent way too much money on their dresses. But it's been awhile. Now I want to go to Urban!

And I may be biased, but lipstick. Lipstick all the way.

  16. Ahh, I have that dress in two different colors! And they each have a slight pocket/back variation, but they're the same shape and fabric and I just adore them! I love that they're so versatile! You look adorable in this one. <3

  17. I don't think the sandals look weird at all! And I love the red lipstick! I'm all about makeup lately and can't get enough of bright lipstick shades. This dress is so perfectly simple and cute for summer too. That's great that you were able to swap for it! I hardly have any Urban Outfitters stuff because it's so pricey. They have good clearance sometimes though!

this makes me want this dress again. i mean technically i think i still own it, but yeah. my buttons have gotten even looser over the years. that sounds wrong

  19. Amazing how something as simple as lipstick can make a simple dress and sandals look SO glam! I know it feels a little daring at first (as my dad said, "Priya. What is that on your face?") but girl, you are rockin it!! Don't be afraid to try coral, hot pink and nude, it's so fun!!

    perfectly priya
