Child's Play

I apologize that my outfits haven't been very creative lately, but I haven't been doing much and I've just felt like throwing on dresses and being done with it. I got this dress in a Ruche sale in the fall, and I realized that this is the first time I've been able to wear it sans tights and a sweater since buying it. It's been on a heavy rotation in my summer wardrobe seeing as it's perfect for the season. I fall in love with the collar a little more each time I wear it.

If you read Jamie's blog, Petite Panoply, these shoes might look familiar. I saw her wearing the red version of these not too long ago, and I was shocked when she said they came from the children's section of Target and that most people don't realize that, if you wear up to a size 8, you can fit into children's shoes. My curiosity was struck, so I had to try these on the next time I was at Target and was so excited when they fit. I ended up passing on them the first time, but when I went back last week and they were still there on clearance for $5, I couldn't resist. I've been wanting a slightly chunkier sandal to pair with summer dresses, but who would have thought I would find them in the kid's section? I feel like an entire new world of possibilities is now open to me. Well, shoe possibilities at least.

I'm off to go watch last night's Game of Thrones, even though everyone and their mothers ruined it on Facebook for me already. I think I need to stay off social media on Sunday nights from now on. I hope you all are having a good start to your week!

  1. Sometimes simple is best - and this totally works! Nothing beats a dress and some cute sandals for perfect summer style. I can't believe these are in the kid's section! If only my feet were a size smaller...

  6. You're so lucky you don't have elephant feet! I'm a size 9 so I'd never be able to fit into a children's size. I love this dress though! Ruche is seriously the best when it comes to floral dresses. I've actually had to stay of their site because I would seriously blow any extra cash I have right now haha!

  9. I found out I could fit in kids shoes the other day when I was at Target! It took all my self-control to not just go on a spree buying all the kids shoes after that...I got way too excited. Next payday, next payday... Those are really cute sandals, and I love this dress!

  11. I love Target and who knew you could shop in the children's section for shoes! Being that I wear a 6, I have a feeling this could be a dangerous thing for me to know...hehe. I'm head over heels for this dress Elana - and I really think one of the best things about summer is being able to just throw on a dress and a pair of sandals and call it day...gorgeous!
