Happiness and Hot Air Balloons

I don't think I have to explain how excited I am to have Sammi join Flock Together. She's been one of my favorite bloggers for a while now, so having access to part of her gorgeous collection of dresses is a dream come true for me and the other Flock Together girls. Obviously, I'd borrow everything in her closet if I could, but I decide to just limit myself to one piece when she put up some of her items for swapping. I decided to borrow this hot air balloon dress first, and I think it's obvious why. After wearing it twice, these are the thoughts that have run through my head: I never want to take it off, I'm pretty sure that I want to be buried in it, and it's a little unhealthy how emotionally attached I've become to a dress that isn't mine. Too far? Sure, but can you blame me?

Ruining friendships by stealing dresses aside, I had a great weekend, which I'm starting to realize has been a theme these days. I know I said this last time, but I've just been having a really good time with my friends lately. For the first part of college, I always talked about how no one would ever compare to the group of friends I had back home. I missed that stable group of people I could turn to and say "what are we doing on Friday?" knowing that we would be hanging out. I'm fortunate to still be close with my friends from home (a fact proven by my long phone call with my friend Whitney yesterday and my almost daily texts with my friend Adam), but it's unbelievably nice to finally have a similar group here as well. Of course, it would be just my luck that I had to meet them all during the second half of my college career.

So, all in all, things are pretty swell for me right now. Between homemade breakfasts from good guy friends, too many coffee shop visits to count, an impromptu road trip for pizza, hard cider, and Starbucks, being extremely happy with my blog photos/outfits, and still having the best job ever, I'm living the life right now. But don't worry; I'll probably wake up with a nasty cold tomorrow and hate everything.

  10. I think your feelings towards this dress are TOTALLY understandable. I felt the same way with the two I borrowed from Sammi! I wanted to borrow at least 10 and thought two was a good compromise ;) So glad you have met some awesome people at school, I sure miss my group of college friends after moving to a place where I didn't know anyone after!

  12. Oh yes, I would never want to take that off, either. Totally worth ruining friendships for. HA! Being part of a blog like Flock Together would endanger so many of my online friendships... you have no idea. And I love how you styled it! Those flats are SO adorable, and I really, really want that bracelet.
Haha, I hope you don't wake up with a cold tomorrow! I'm so glad you're having a good life right now. It's so nice to have everything going your way!

  18. I could gush about our friendship and rainbows and fluffy puppies, but we all know that makes me uncomfortable. So here is my rebuttal to this blog post:

"Elana, quit bragging about your life. You're way misguided. Everyone wishes you would just go back to California already. Hard cider is NOT beer, so don't think you're cool now or anything. By the way, I just got rid of all my clothes except yoga pants with rhinestones on the butt, because that is classy. Get a life."

That was difficult. Also, write a blog post about cute clothes you can wear when you eat too much pizza. Think elastic waist chic. Just a suggestion.

  20. Your happiness is contagious! It's so great to be able to recognize when things are going really good- we don't always tend to do that. And a hot air balloon dress can definitely help with that! :)

  24. I so understand why you would want to steal this dress. It is way beyond cute!! I really think it is the second half of college where you really learn about yourself and who you want to be so it's wonderful that you have found a great friend group now to grow with.
