Collection of White Dreses

If you're wondering how many white dresses I own, I want you to know that you don't want the answer. It's too many. It's more than most people feel the need to own, which is probably one at most. I have no idea why I'm always drawn to them, and I certainly tell myself that I don't need another one whenever I get a new one, but there's no going back now. It's a collection, or at least that's what I tell myself to justify the amount of money I've spent altogether. This one, though, is probably my favorite. I picked it up at TJ Maxx in the fall, and it's everything I want out of a dress. It's extremely versatile, has an A-line skirt, it's comfortable, and it has pockets. It's perfect in every way, especially with a red statement necklace and thrifted wedges.

So far this week has been exhausting since I picked up an extra shift at the restaurant, am working on some side projects/freelance gigs, and finally starting to pack before the move. And by that, I mean that I'm staring at the boxes in my room and pretending like I'm filling them. It'll get done one of these days. Of course, everything gets put on hold on Tuesday nights, since my weekly Parks and Rec night with my friends always takes priority. Yesterday's theme dinner was "all the bacon and eggs we had." We technically already a night honoring Ron Swanson (steak and potatoes) and were planning on doing salads for Chris and Ann, but when we had the idea to do a breakfast night, we couldn't resist. It was delicious and the episodes were near perfect, as this entire season has been. It makes me want to cry every time.

In other news, the Oscars are this Sunday. For as much as I know that award shows don't mean anything, I'll never stop loving the Academy Awards. It's my favorite day of the year, and it's pretty much my version of the Super Bowl. I'm hoping that Boyhood takes the big win, but I'll still be happy if Birdman ends up getting it. They were two of my favorite movies of the year, so either way, it's a win for me. Every year, however, my favorite category remains Best Original Screenplay. It's the one category that gives praise to the weird, kind of quirky movies that tend to be my favorites. Think movies like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Little Miss Sunshine, Midnight in Pairs, and Her, which all won in that category. This year, I'm hoping that Grand Budapest Hotel wins it. If you know me, you know that Wes Anderson is my favorite director, like the wannabe hipster that I am. Grand Budapest was one of the best films he's ever made, and I'm beyond thrilled that it's first movie to get serious awards recognition. Oh, Wes. You're the greatest.

  1. I have ONE true white dress. I love that this one looks like a top and skirt combo. I'm dying to pull out some of my summer dresses. I'm missing them! Your pictures always make me feel so warm.

  2. I am so with you on the white dress thing--I can't quite place what it is but they just always feel so charming and special to me. I love how I feel in a white dress and this one is adorable! I love how it looks like a skirt and top. :)

Parks and Rec has been making me cry all season, too. Ugh. This is seriously the cutest show of all time and every single character tugs on my heart strings. TOO MANY FEELINGS!

  4. I LOVED Grand Budapest Hotel! I haven't seen any of his other films except for The Fantastic Mr. Fox (which I didn't care as much for), but now I want to go watch them all. It was so brilliant!

And oh girl, if you get married and have kids, you will no longer have white dresses. ;) Enjoy it while you can. Haha! Then again, bleach is always handy, and while I may not have a ton of WHITE dresses, I have a ton of dresses, period. Many of which have baby food on them now.
That dress is pretty perfect on you (and pockets? Instant win!). You look gorgeous in white, I can see why you are drawn to white dresses!

  7. Hooray, some one else who hoards white dresses! I actually like LWD better than LBDs by a long shot (I know, the blasphemy). Even with my shop, I weirdly keep most cream color dresses for months if not years before I am willing to part, so glad someone else understands! :)

  8. We all like to collect something, right? I have a small collection of red dresses and it's slowly but surely growing! I also love navy dresses because they go with everything! Love this outfit!

  9. Didn't watch Boyhood but I get a pretentious vibe oozing from it! Birdman sounds more promising, is it really good? Really have to watch these two movies :D
I adore how you wear white dresses, you look like a girly fairy! And the Parcs and Rec night sounds awesome, need to do something similar with my friends :D

  10. This dress is so pretty! I think white looks stunning on you. I reworked my wardrobe and realized I have a shit ton of pink dresses. It's fun to have a theme, right? I'm glad you enjoyed the Oscar's though I understand it not (except Emma Stone is perfect and that Wes Anderson deserves everything). Hope you managed to pack a little this weekend!
