Factory Girl

You could technically say this outfit fits into my fall uniform of late (dress, cardigan, scarf, booties), but something about this one feels different. It's like my fall outfit, new and improved. Fall outfit 2.0? I can't decide. Either way, it's obviously the dress that's making me love this outfit so much. A gingham dress like this has been on my wish list for a long time now (in fact, I've debated putting the same Modcloth one in my shopping cart too many times to count), but it took me a while to find one that was more in my price range. So even though I always hate myself for shopping at Forever 21, when this one popped up in their "50% off sale items" recently for about $7, I just had to get it. I really am a sucker for those sales, but can you blame me?

I've taken pictures at this abandoned factory before, but never in this exact location, and I love how these turned out. There's something about feminine outfits against harsh backdrops that I can't resist. Plus, I'm constantly impressed with how photogenic this town is. It seems that behind every corner is hidden gem, perfect for photographing. I also think that with so little time left here, I'm starting to appreciate this place much more than I ever have. I complain about you a lot, Macomb, and I still resent you for your lack of Starbucks, but you can be pretty damn charming.

As much as I'm learning to appreciate where I am, I can't help but get excited about my trip home in almost two weeks for Thanksgiving break. I've been less homesick than I ever have (which is partly due to having a fun/busy semester and partly due to my family visiting), but I'm still eagerly awaiting a week at home. I don't suppose I'll  ever stop missing my friends and family there, the palm trees, or the food (In N' Out, I'm looking at you). Now, if I could just figure out a way to convince all of my loved ones in both California and Illinois to just move to the same place, then life would be pretty perfect.

  12. I always get antsy to get home for Thanksgiving break in November too. I live a lot closer to home than you do though. I can imagine you're even more eager than I am!
I almost bought this same dress during that Forever 21 sale but the reviews said the color ran when they washed it. I hope that doesn't happen to you because it's adorable. I just love this print. Your green cardigan looks great with it.
