Leah Goren Cat Dress + Mint Headband

You know this dress, don't you? It was designed by Leah Goren, once sold at Anthropologie, was worn by every blogger for a while -- and I found it sitting in a thrift store last week. Ever since this dress came out a few years ago, I couldn't help but dream about it. I know it was everywhere for a while, but I'm a big fan of Leah Goren's illustrations and despite its immense popularity, I needed it in my life. Alas, I could never afford it when it for sale at Anthropologie. Even scouring for it on eBay years later led to results no lower than $85. I eventually lost hope.

Miraculous, I popped into a Salvation Army with my best friend, Whitney, last week and there it was. I have to be honest here. I didn't find it mtyself. I heard Whitney exclaim, "oh my god, I'm getting this" from the other side of the dress rack, and when I looked over to see what she was holding, it was this dress. My eyes widened and I ran over and reached in to look at the tag. I started rambling about what the dress was, how long I had been looking for it, and how much it originally retailed for. I did this until she sighed and handed it to me. A true act of selflessness if I've ever seen one. Still, I was skeptical as it was a size smaller than I normally wear. As luck would have it, it just happens to run a size too large. Miracle dress. It's a miracle dress, and it's mine now.

Flock Together: Not Again

Before you say anything, yes, I am wearing yet another polka dot dress today. However, this beauty was borrowed from Taylor of Nothing But a Pigeon, and I don't think I can be blamed for wanting to borrow it. Head over to Flock Together to read my full post about it. See you there!

Wishlist: Graduation

I decided that I'm going to start sharing wishlists for specific occasions, and I couldn't think of a better way to start than with graduation right around the corner. Thanks to a wonderful Flock Together girl, I already know what I'll be wearing, but it hasn't stopped me from looking at other pretty options online. My graduation isn't too formal, and I can't afford most of the things on this list, but a girl can dream. To say that I'm clumsy would be an understatement, so I also picked out some gorgeous flats and short wedges to go with them. Is it weird that I almost want to graduate twice so I can wear my outfit that I have planned and get one of these?

Full Disclosure: In case you haven't noticed, I have started using to Reward Style. What this means is that any time you click on an item I post and buy something from that website, I'll receive a small commission. However, I ONLY post items that I actually like, and they are not sponsored links in any way (no one asked me to post this). I use for two reasons: 1. It's a prettier, more appealing way to share items with you and 2. Yes, I could use the extra money. I don't blog for the money, but I do put a lot of time into it. If I'm going to be working at unpaid internships this summer as it looks like, any extra money will help me continue to to blog.

Sweetness

Considering this is the week of all things sweet, it's only natural that I post a sweet outfit today and devote a post to it. The sweetest part being how I got this lovely dress that I'm wearing as a top here. A few days ago, my RA dropped this off at my door and told me that it was too short on her and reminded her of me. It's not every day that someone knocks on my door to give me any sort of lace Peter Pan collar goodness so I didn't wait long to put it on. Even with my 5'2" height, it still sits a little short on me, but it makes a perfect top. I decided to go all 50s with this one and paired it with a ponytail, pleated skirt and my favorite thrifted cardigan. I'm about to get a cavity from all this sweetness.

But wait, I'm not done. There's more of that adorableness in my life, like the fact that my lovely friend Justine spent her morning on our day off with me taking outfit pictures. She's going to start updating her blog again soon and you can bet that I'll sharing it here. I also may or may not have a great giveaway planned for V-day itself, so stay tuned.

One More Sunny Day

It's my last day in California! Unfortunately, I'm stuck with a cold and packing my life into two suitcases, but at least I've still got sun, 52 degree weather, and palm trees in my backyard. Also, in other good news, Oscar nominations were announced yesterday which makes being stuck at home a little more okay. Anyone else excited about the nominations? The director category was definitely surprising (not Bigelow, Affleck, or Hooper?), but the fact that Django got a couple nods (Christph Waltz is my hero) and Silver Linings Playbook got a bunch is enough to make me happy. I get REALLY into the Oscars, if anyone was wondering.

I suppose I should talk about the outfit a little, shouldn't I? If Flock Together has given me anything, other than getting to know some awesome girls, it has helped give me motivation to look at the items in my closet differently. I missed this dress while it traveled to some of my favorite bloggers, so I've been wearing it quite a lot since I got it back. This time, I decided to wear it as a top to mix things up. Of course, I didn't go without sleeves for too long, but a few minutes with bare arms for photos didn't hurt.

Too-good-to-be-true items and too-long post titles

My posting order is all jumbled up. On Monday, I posted what I wore on Saturday; on Tuesday, I posted what I wore last Wednesday; today, I'm posting what I wore on Monday; tomorrow, I'll post what I wore on Tuesday. Of course, none of this is important, but I felt like sharing this anyway.

As usual, it's been a busy week. I won't go until all of the details, but this semester has been exhausting. I'm writing this in between classes and immediately after I'll be going to look at a venue where my club is going to have an event and then writing an article I should have had done last night. Note to self: don't interview the woman who owns the slutty costume shop about a fundraiser again, she's nuts.

But enough of stress, I'd rather talk about clothes. Let's ignore the fact the front of my skirt is stuck to itself in most of these pictures and focus on how much I love all of these items. I found both the cardigan ($7) and and bag ($2) on my thrifting trip this past week and I'm obsessed with both. I couldn't believe what amazing condition they were in and I think all of my friends hated me for finding them first. That's usually what happens when my friends go thrifting with me. I'd feel bad, but I get REALLY competitive about finding the best items before anyone else does. These are the things I care about in life.

Black and white

Not a lot of photos today because there wasn't too much time to take many at all. My friend Jessica helped me take these really quick yesterday right before we had to get to the activities fair to set up our club's table. The good news is that we actually had a pretty good amount of people show up to our first meeting, which was a big change from last year. It's nice to actually have some more people on campus interested in fashion and excited to be involved.

I found this shirt at the same thrift store I found the bag on Thursday and couldn't believe my luck. Not only did it fit perfectly, it was only $1. You would never expect it, but I swear this town's thrift stores have some of the best hidden gems. This especially, Project Hope, always manages to have something good and I don't think I've ever paid more than $3 for anything. I felt a little like a 1950's housewife wearing this around campus and I couldn't have been happier.

I'm beginning to think I may have an unhealthy addiction to polka dots. I'm hoping the fashion blogging community can serve as my support group.

Did anyone score anything good from Modcloth's Last Hurrah sale? My order somehow already got here today and I couldn't be happier. I'll be sharing soon, get excited.

Button down down

My friends make me laugh. Sometimes.

I have to make this kind of short since I just got out of class and have to eat lunch or finish an article I need in a couple of hours. I'm on top of things. Classes have been good, if fairly easy, so far. I do have the problem where every time I look at my Anthropologie Anthropology syllabus, my inner-shopping addict is convinced it's spelled wrong. These are the obstacles I deal with a daily basis.

I've feeling a big uninspired lately and have mostly just been trying to pair together different combinations of clothing I wear all the time. I think I'm just ready for fall. I might have gone a little too crazy yesterday on Urban's website when I saw they had free shipping AND $39 jeans. I might also have bought a forest green cardigan that was on sale and a pair of white woven loafers that were only $12. So much for my spending freeze.

My friend Emily, who writes for College Fashionista, took these photos of me last week after an e-board meeting for our club. I decided I want her to take all of my pictures for me, especially after she got on down on the cement, skirt and all, to take a better shot of my shoes. I need more friends like this.

Also, I realized that my outfit buttons all the way down. I planned it that way. I always do.

Did I say short post? Oops.

Tiny touches of neon

Try to look serious, I dare you.

Taking photos with Elyse and my nephew, Jackson, causes a real challenge- trying not to laugh.

Considering I'm stuffed with delicious crepes my friend came over to make and cannot seem to move, a blog post feels like the most logical thing to do with myself. I wore this to see Brave last week, a movie I'm still not sure what to think about. In terms of a Disney princess movie, it was adorable and pretty much what I've come to expect from that type of film. As for a Pixar movie, however, I'm not quite sure it lived up to my standards.

If there's one trend I never envisioned myself wearing, it's neon, but here I am. After seeing small touches of it done with class in various corners of the internet, I decided to take the plunge. I picked up this belt in Wasteland on Melrose while I was there and I couldn't be happier with it. It's ended up being a great way to incorporate a little bit of neon in an outfit without going overboard. I'm holding off on that until my neon orange latex bodysuit comes in the mail... Who's gonna be the most stylish blogger then? THIS GUY.

As for the rest of the look, I picked up this top at T.J. Maxx with the dress I wore in my last post. It's a shame I keep insisting on tucking it into skirts like every other shirt I own, it has a really amazing scalloped hem. I'll force myself into some shorts at some point this summer and show it off. I probably wear this skirt once a week- it never stays in my closet for too long. I subscribe to the Shop it to Me emails, but the only time I've ever ordered something from it was when this skirt became marked down on Anthropologie from $178 to $19. I'm really great at pretending like I can afford anything from there.
