After wearing this dress (and by that I mean my favorite dress) as a shirt last time, I decided to try it a skirt this time around. Who knows? Maybe I'll try it as a headscarf next time I wear it. 

Wrinkled designer skirts and a talented family

I don't know if you guys remember, but a couple weeks ago, I mentioned that I had bought a designer skirt and I was really excited to share it with you. May I present my Lauren Moffatt skirt that I bought off Ebay for about $12. I'll never know why not a single person bid against me for it... maybe it was because title of the item was confusing (it was labeled vintage, it's definitely not), maybe the Ebay gods just decided to give me this one, who knows? All I know is that I can now say I own a Lauren Moffatt skirt and it's gorgeous. Of course, I got so impatient to wear it that I didn't even take the time to iron it. Oh well, I own a Lauren Moffatt skirt.

I want to talk about my family for a minute. Not just about how great they are, but how everyone in my family is crazy talented and successful in their chosen field. My siblings are all just amazing at everything they do, but don't tell them I said so . My sister-in-law, Ashely, took these photos again and I'll forever be grateful at the time the people in my life have taken to help me out with this blog. I also want to mention my sister-in-law, Elyse's new blog. She made my banner and took my photos at the beginning of the summer, when I started Room 334. When I die, I want to be buried in this dress.

I know that I often use this blog as an excuse to write love letters to my favorite articles of clothing, but this...this is my absolute favorite thing I own at the moment and I don't think I necessarily need to explain why.

I should confess something: I check Modcloth every day. I'm not exaggerating. I look through the new arrivals every. single. day. It's a bit pathetic, especially considering how little I actually purchase anything. However, when this dress was marked down to $24 (from at least $80 or $90, I don't remember), I couldn't resist. I didn't notice that my belt wasn't lined up when these photos were being taken, but I think the beauty of the dress still gets across.

I wore this last week to the Cheesecake Factory for a birthday dinner with my parents and my boyfriend. I ended up slipping on sandals at the last minute and I think it worked out much better than the oxfords. Just imagine I'm all Modcloth-ed out and wearing these. Fun fact about me: my biggest weakness is red velvet cheesecake. The things I would do for that cake...

Also, if anyone is interested, I have a ridiculous amount of clothes in my room that I need to get rid of. I have a bunch of stuff on Ebay, and I'll be adding more throughout the day. I also have this amazing 1950's dress on Etsy to get rid of too. Take a look if you're interested!

Three Weeks Later

Looking at these photos and the few I chose not to post, I've come to two conclusions:

1. For someone who lives in Southern California, I am incredibly pale. I think I should probably spend more time in the sun than sitting in Starbucks, which I am about to do as soon as I finish writing this.

2. I really don't know how not to look awkward when posing for photos. My sister-in-law/photographer and I decided that my blog's gimmick should be ridiculous photos where I just completely give up on the idea of me looking natural. Sounds like a good plan to me.

Despite the fact that I keep complaining about how boring my summer is without the two jobs I have during the school year, I've actually managed to do some pretty awesome things at home. I wore this to go thrifting in L.A. with my good friend, Alena last week. I only ended up with a belt and a couple of rings, it's always worth it to pull out Balenciaga and Helmut Lang items in a thrift store. I was THIS close to buying a Theory dress for $20, but stopped myself before buying yet another item that I really don't need. Proof that I do have self control sometimes.

The best part about this outfit, is that two of the items cost me $0. I, of course, have a very unhealthy obsession with ModCloth, which is why I applied to be apart of the ModSquad Street Team. The ModSquad is basically a Facebook group where women of all ages talk about their love for Modcloth, give the website feedback, and fashion in general. Some of the girls from the group started a couple of swap groups and I've become quite addicted to swapping my clothes ever since.

I've definitely received more than a few items from swaps that didn't end up working out, but every so often absolute gems come along like this jacket or the necklace. The jacket is lightweight and I've already thrown it on over dresses too many times to count. The necklace was originally from Anthropologie and the day I wore this outfit, I had three separate people stop me to say how beautiful it was. You know me, stopping strangers in their tracks with my free accessories wherever I go...
